In this leadership role, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain compliance with relevant laws, lead process improvements, and manage payroll staff. You will act as a critical link between payroll, HR, accounting, and operations, ensuring smooth payroll operations that support our field and office employees.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities\nSupervise all payroll functions and staff, providing training, coaching, and support.\nEnsure accurate, timely processing of payroll for all employees, including union and non-union workers.\nManage payroll system configurations, updates, and data integrity (experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS preferred).\nMaintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting.\nLead audits and resolve payroll discrepancies, coordinating with HR, accounting, and field supervisors as needed.\nDrive process improvements to increase payroll accuracy and efficiency.\nPrepare and review payroll reports and analyses for management and regulatory purposes.\nServe as a point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and payroll vendors.\nCollaborate closely with HR on onboarding, terminations, and employment status changes impacting payroll.\nQualifications\nMinimum 3-5 years of payroll experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.\nStrong expertise with payroll software systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, or similar platforms.\nUp-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements.\nExperience managing payroll processes for construction or utility industry preferred.\nExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.\nBilingual in English and Spanish \nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.\nHigh school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.\nBenefits\nWhy Benchmark\nA stable, growing company with real career growth potential\nA team that values doing things the right way - no shortcuts\nSupportive management that invests in the people who show up and deliver\nA role where your accuracy and reliability are genuinely valued\nBenchmark Utility Services is an equal opportunity employer.
