With that said, the primary responsibilities and measurements of success for this position are:\nR&D responsibilities:\nCollaborate with internal teams to build and run custom test campaigns on various propellants and materials.\nPrepare samples and coordinate testing with out-of-house chemical and material science laboratories.\nCarry out material compatibility tests with various propellants, propulsion system materials and subcomponents.\nBuild experimental apparatus to aid development of new analytical capabilities and processes.\nSet up and monitor data acquisition systems for tests.\nOperational Chemistry:\nPrepare propellants for thruster hotfire testing.\nSample and analyze incoming chemicals to maintain quality standards.\nMaintain chemical databases and logs.\nPerform cleanliness verification tests on equipment and propulsion system hardware.\nPrepare chemical solutions and standards.\nLab Management and Safety:\nPerform regular maintenance and repairs on laboratory instruments and equipment.\nEnsure PPE, equipment and facilities are well-stocked, clean and safe.\nManage proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemical waste.\nManage chemical inventory and work with the procurement team to source chemicals, equipment and supplies.\nEducation and/or Experience:\nChemistry or Chemical Engineering degree is preferred but not required.\n5+ years of hands-on experience working in a chemical laboratory.\nBe/become proficient in: Microsoft Suite, National Instruments, Grafana.\nAbility, agility, and can-do attitude to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced and cross-functional environment.\nU.S. Person Requirement: Due to the nature of the work and access to export-controlled information, applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person under U.S. export control laws. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position now or in the future.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nWhat you bring to the position, or can swiftly learn and be successful in:\nHands-on experience running and maintaining analytical chemistry instruments and apparatus such as vacuum filtration, titration, densitometers, refractometers, UV/Vis spectrometers, microscopes.\nSafe chemical handling, including knowledge and experience with acids, alkalis, solvents, oxidizers and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.\nDemonstrate excellent organization skills.\nProgramming proficiency with National Instruments, python or other data acquisition systems is preferable, but not required.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.\nPerceptiveness, diligence and attention to detail.\nCompensation & Benefits:\nHealth insurance (100% coverage for individuals, 80% for families).\nHSA with company contributions.\nVision and dental insurance.\nCompany-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurances.\nVoluntary life insurance.\nFSA Dependent Care.\nEmployee Assistance Program.\n401(k) with employer match.\nFlexible schedule.\nUnlimited vacation.\nPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions:\nOn feet in chemical laboratory much of the time.
