ICT Cyber Security Specialist

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an ICT Cyber Security Specialist in Adelaide to conduct security risk assessments for space systems and develop mitigation strategies.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Conduct security risk assessments for space systems and develop mitigation strategies, including providing expert advice on procedural security controls and risk frameworks.
• Assess security features of Defence and commercial hardware/software and evaluate emerging technologies, vendor capabilities, and security impacts.
• Provide specialist advice on security strengths, weaknesses, and risks.
• Review system designs, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements.
• Contribute to cybersecurity strategy, planning, and capability development, providing security guidance across programs and projects.
• Build and maintain relationships across Defence, industry, and international partners.

What You’ll Bring

• Degree in ICT, Computer Science or related field (desirable).
• Proven cybersecurity engineering and risk assessment experience.
• Knowledge of Defence cybersecurity policies, frameworks and standards.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies and secure system design.
• Awareness of space system security risks and considerations.
• Experience interpreting security policies and standards
• Knowledge of governance, compliance and legislative requirements
• Familiarity with Defence mission and operational requirements

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
