If this statement resonates with you, don’t be so hard on yourself-apply for the job!\nConstruction Inspector\nBenesch is in search of a dedicated Construction Inspector to join our Construction team, focusing on supporting Railroad Infrastructure Safety Improvement projects in the Western Connecticut and Southeastern New York, United States region. In this role, you will contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group by inspecting, documenting, and helping manage various infrastructure projects, primarily for railroad grade crossing safety improvement projects but potentially road, water main, and sewer construction, as well as play an important role in managing client relationships. \nLocation\nThis role is field based, with work conducted at construction sites; office travel will be limited. Remote work is not anticipated during construction season and while construction activities are ongoing. Travel to various project sites within the Western Connecticut and Southeastern New York, United States region is required. If you are passionate about making a difference in the railroad and construction industries and possess the necessary skills and experience, we encourage you to apply.\nThe Impact You Will Have\nReview and assure the project supervisor of the adequacy of the budget and schedule.\nPerform construction observation of construction activities and follow applicable project procedures. \nMaintain a field book in accordance with project procedures.\nPerform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items.\nPrepare Inspector Daily Reports and other project documentation as required by the project procedures and as directed by the project supervisor.\nReport to the project supervisor on the progress of work, including technical issues, the status of work remaining to be done, and any noted deficiencies.\nReview plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work.\nProvide design or other professional assistance to project managers.\nMaintain company-owned vehicles or other equipment assigned for use on the project.\nWhat You Will Need\nBS in Civil or Construction Engineering or in a related engineering curriculum required\nPreferred Licensed PE in the state of New York \n5-10 years of working experience with NYSDOT is preferred.\nExperience working on field projects required.\nExperience working with railroads, namely MTA, MNRR and/or LIRR is preferred\nExperience utilizing ArcGIS, MicroStation, and Geopak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable.\nExcellent communication and intrapersonal skills.\nStrong organization and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules.\nAbility to work effectively independently and in a team environment.\nGood driving record and valid driver's license.\nWhy Benesch?\nIt’s simple.
