They balance people leadership, technical leadership, and operational ownership, regularly influencing priorities beyond their immediate team and partnering with engineering and product leaders to improve reliability, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.\nThey are trusted to make decisions that affect multiple teams and are expected to build systems, processes, and organizations that scale.\nResponsibilities:\nThe Manager, SRE leads one or more teams of Site Reliability Engineers and is accountable for reliability, availability, operational excellence, automation strategy, and engineering effectiveness within their assigned service area. Responsibilities span four primary domains:\nReliability Leadership\nOwn availability, performance, scalability, and operational health of assigned services. \nDrive adoption and enforcement of SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, and operational reviews. \nOwn reliability roadmaps and ensure investment is balanced between feature delivery, technical debt reduction, and operational sustainability. \nEstablish measurable operational targets and continuously improve system resilience. \nStrategize and communicate with management of Support teams on releases, automation changes, SOPs, and ticket management. \nEngineering & People Leadership\nBuild a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development. \nSet clear expectations and performance standards aligned to organizational objectives. \nDevelop future technical and people leaders within the team. \nEnsure engineering excellence through design reviews, operational reviews, and technical governance. \nCollaborate with management of Development, QA, Product, and Release teams to ensure SRE principles, defensive coding practices, and release readiness posture are shifted left into planning, design, development, and delivery processes. \nOperational Excellence\nLead response and recovery efforts for critical incidents. \nDrive systemic problem resolution through blameless postmortems and automation. \nEliminate toil through software engineering and platform capabilities. \nEnsure operational readiness for new products, services, and major releases. \nStrategic Execution & Organizational Leadership\nTranslate organizational strategy into actionable roadmaps and quarterly objectives. \nWork across development, product management, cloud operations, security, and support teams to align priorities. \nGuide architectural decisions that improve reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency. \nLead multiple concurrent initiatives spanning products, platforms, or service areas. \nEstablish operating mechanisms, standards, and best practices across teams. \nRepresent SRE during executive reviews, customer escalations, and strategic planning discussions. \nParticipate in budget planning, workforce planning, and organizational design discussions. \nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience. \nTypically 8+ years of experience across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, systems administration, or reliability engineering. \nMinimum 4 years of experience with: \nPublic cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) \nInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible) \nKubernetes and containerized workloads \nObservability tooling and telemetry systems \nCI/CD and software delivery practices \nMinimum 3 years of experience leading engineers through formal people-leadership, technical leadership, or team management responsibilities. \nExperience operating and supporting business-critical production services. \nExperience leading major incidents, postmortems, and reliability improvement programs\n\nThis is a Hybrid role.\nWhat We Offer:\nStep into a collaborative work environment where ideas flourish, and teamwork propels us forward towards shared success.\nAn attractive salary and benefits package.\nBentley Impact Day: take a day off from work to volunteer with an organization of your choice.\nCelebrate milestone achievements and moments that matter through our colleague recognition award programs and our Bentley Achievers platform.\nA commitment to inclusion, belonging and colleague wellbeing through global initiatives and resource groups.\nBe part of a company committed to making a real difference by advancing the world’s infrastructure for better quality of life, where your contributions help build a more sustainable, connected, and resilient world.
