You will partner directly with Commercial leadership on the decisions that shape our growth, bringing a clear view of performance and stronger rigor to forecasts, investment choices, and trade-offs.\nIn parallel, you will lead the Global Commercial Finance Center of Excellence, defining \"what good looks like\" for Commercial Finance and building the operating model behind it: the standards, capabilities, talent, and tools that let high-impact partnering scale across every region.\nWorking closely with Commercial Leadership, Regional Finance, and Corporate FP&A, you will shape both the decisions we make today and the finance function we need for the next phase of growth. The role reports to the VP, Finance for Commercial Operations and is part of the Global Commercial Finance leadership team.\nEssential Functions of the Job\nBusiness Partnering & Performance Leadership\nHelp Commercial leaders make better business decisions with clear financial insight.\nPartner with Global Commercial leaders on performance, choices, risks, and opportunities - and influence the decisions that follow.\nLead key planning work for Commercial Finance: annual planning, forecasts, long-range planning, performance reviews, scenario analysis, and earnings support.\nBring regional, market, operational, and financial information into one clear global view of performance, spotting trends, forecast risks, and growth opportunities early.\nTurn complex financial data into clear insights, practical recommendations, and action-oriented insights for senior leaders.\nStrengthen business cases by making assumptions, options, risks, value drivers, and recommendations clear.\nHelp leaders pressure-test plans, understand trade-offs, and balance near-term performance with long-term growth and patient impact.\nSupport fact-based investment and resource allocation decisions across Global Commercial priorities.\nMake reporting and insights for the CFO, Investor Relations, and other enterprise stakeholders clearer, more consistent, and easier to use.\nCenter of Excellence & Operating Model\nBuild simple, consistent ways of working that help the function scale.\nDefine the purpose, scope, services, governance, decision rights, and success measures for the Global Commercial Finance COE.\nDesign how Global Commercial Finance, Regional Finance, and the COE will work together day to day.\nClarify who owns business partnering, planning, reporting, analytics, systems, data, and execution.\nCreate common standards for planning, forecasting, reporting, analytics, performance management, and business case development.\nLead priority Finance transformation work, including ARC-related work, with clear owners, milestones, dependencies, and outcomes.\nSimplify fragmented processes, calendars, templates, data definitions, and reporting routines to reduce duplication and free up capacity.\nUse planning tools, business intelligence, automation, analytics, and appropriate AI-enabled solutions to improve speed, quality, and scalability.\nPut practical data governance, controls, and system ownership in place so teams can rely on timely and accurate information.\nPartner with Corporate FP&A and regional teams to remove overlapping work, improve handoffs, and connect enterprise, global, regional, and market planning.\nBuild a practical implementation roadmap that balances quick wins with longer-term operating model changes.\nTrack COE performance through simple measures for service, quality, timeliness, adoption, and business impact.\nOrganization & Talent Leadership\nBuild the team, capabilities, and culture needed for a high-performing global function.\nLead, coach, and develop a strong global team with the business, finance, analytical, technical, and influencing skills needed to support a growing business.\nCreate a clear organization and talent plan for the COE, including role clarity, capability priorities, succession needs, and location strategy.\nProvide functional leadership to the broader Global Commercial Finance community while preserving appropriate regional accountability.\nDefine the key capabilities needed for strong Commercial Finance business partnering, including business acumen, insight generation, advanced modelling, executive communication, and transformation leadership.\nIdentify capability gaps and address them through coaching, stretch assignments, shared learning, tools, standards, and practical work on business priorities.\nBuild a stronger leadership bench and succession pipeline by creating development and mobility opportunities for high-potential talent.\nCreate a culture of accountability, curiosity, collaboration, constructive challenge, continuous learning, and disciplined execution.\nLead inclusively and create an environment where different perspectives improve decisions and teams can perform at their best.\nInfluence across functions, regions, and levels by building trust, setting clear expectations, and removing barriers to performance.\nReduce dependency on a small number of senior leaders by creating repeatable standards, stronger delegation, clear ownership, and sustainable team capabilities.\nQualifications\n14+ years of experience in Finance, FP&A, or Commercial Finance, with significant leadership responsibility in a complex global organization.\nStrong experience partnering with senior Commercial or business leaders to guide strategy, investment decisions, resource allocation, and performance improvement.\nExperience leading core FP&A work, including annual planning, forecasting, long-range planning, performance reviews, business cases, and executive decision support.\nExperience in a global or above-market Commercial Finance role, including bringing together regional performance, priorities, and insights into a clear enterprise view.\nBiotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences experience supporting global brands, launches, regions, or commercial portfolios is preferred.\nProven ability to build or improve finance capabilities, operating models, shared services, or a Center of Excellence.\nExperience improving planning, reporting, analytics, and performance management processes across regions or business units.\nComfortable using enterprise planning systems, business intelligence tools, data visualization, automation, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve finance work and decision support.\nStrong analytical skills, with the ability to separate important insights from data and turn them into clear recommendations.\nStrong commercial judgment, with the ability to connect market dynamics, portfolio decisions, operating drivers, and financial outcomes.\nStrong communication and executive presence, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and credibly to senior Commercial and Finance leaders.\nAble to influence across global, regional, and functional teams by building trust, challenging constructively, and working in partnership.\nExperience leading teams, developing talent, managing through change, and working effectively in a matrixed organization.\nStrong
