Trainees participate in formal and on-the-job training to develop a working knowledge of product language, underwriting practices, policies, and guidelines while progressing along a defined career path in the insurance industry. Key functions will include but are not limited to:\nIndustry/Practice/Knowledge\nLink line of business policies and practices to company strategies\nIdentify and act on opportunities to share knowledge with clients and customers\nNetwork with peers and outside resources to exchange ideas and information\nProduct Skills\nCompare company coverages to competitors and differentiate the company from others\nIdentify new product opportunities\nExplain company service capabilities and apply them to specific client needs, including coordinating standard service delivery to customers\nBook Management/Pricing Skills\nApply standard pricing to exposures\nApply individual loss and expense factors when applicable\nUtilize internal information systems to measure results\nAnalyze and evaluate impact of producer performance on assigned book of business\nApply key expense components and influence controllable elements according to plans and strategies\nIdentify and evaluate the influence of competitor strategies in the local territory or line of business and their effects on the company’s business\nConsulting\nProvide input for written premium and expense budget planning\nOffer creative solutions that contribute to the achievement of business results\nApply underwriting strategies and standards to pre-qualify risk acceptability\nIdentify and assess exposures for each risk\nPerform detailed analysis utilizing appropriate information (exposure, rate, financial, and loss) to determine account acceptability, considering customer needs\nAssess rate adequacy relative to exposure\nClient Management\nIdentify clients’ needs and recommend solutions\nHandle or appropriately refer cross-selling opportunities\nNegotiate standard coverage issues, close sales, and gauge customer satisfaction\nIdentify and access basic underwriting and service resources and evaluate associated cost-benefit\nDemonstrate knowledge of competitors’ products, strategies, strengths, weaknesses, position within agencies and the marketplace, and financial picture\nDevelop and pursue prospective clients\nFollow up on prospective and incumbent clients’ needs\nQualifications\nQualifications:\nAbility to manage multiple, complex assignments and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment\nComfort working in an ambiguous and dynamic environment\nPrior experience in insurance a plus\nStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)\nEagerness to learn and grow within the insurance industry\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment\nComputer literacy including use of Word, Excel, and various project management tools\nFlexibility and openness to change and enhancements to stay competitive in the market\nAdaptability in adjusting priorities and working on multiple tasks\nStrong sense of ownership and accountability, with high motivation\nEducation Requirement\nBachelor’s degree in business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)\nAdditional Company Details\nWe do not accept unsolicited resumes from third party recruiting agencies or firms.
