Our Local team focuses on serving the organization, information technology, and management needs of local government agencies. We have worked with hundreds of government agencies throughout the United States. We understand the needs of these agencies, their fiscal constraints, and the commitment to serving constituents. Upon entering the profession you can expect to receive guidance from the supervisor(s), consultant or principal in charge of an engagement or project working with our Justice & Public Safety (J&PS) Teams.\nWork performed will be closely supervised through coaching and training. With guidance from staff members of the J&PS practice area, you will become familiar with the firm’s systems, operations and relationships. The firm expects you to demonstrate flexibility, have a willingness to seek out advice, and exhibit an ambition for learning.This internship is based in our Portland, Maine office.\nWe haveinternshipopeningswith our Local Government Practice Group for:\nSummer session running from May 25, 2027 to August 6, 2027. \nIn order to be considered, you must include your unofficial academic transcription with your application.\nYou Will\nDevelop an understanding of the general consulting process. \nFollow appropriate diagnostic, data collection, fact finding, and data analysis practices.\nDevelop skill in written and verbal communications.\nKeep supervisors and others informed of status of assigned projects.\nParticipate in staff/team meetings and training and work effectively as a team player on multiple client projects.\nProvide ad hoc assessments and briefings in response to client requests.\nAssist with project management tasks such as tracking and reporting project progress, maintaining project document repository, and reviewing deliverables for quality assurance.\nDevelop concise summaries, reports, and presentations of complex data for client leadership.\nPerform assigned administrative tasks effectively and efficiently.\nAssist in performing consulting engagements of all sizes. This may involve such tasks as conducting research, assisting with detailed and technical aspects of the engagement, documenting the engagement and assisting with engagement reporting.\nYou Have\nWorking toward a BA/BS/MS Degree in J&PS disciplines, Political Science, Finance, Management Information Systems or something similar.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.\nStrong Microsoft Office skills.\nDemonstrated experience in relationship building, including excellent writing and communication skills.\nExcellent writing and communication skills\nRelevant work experience in government or public administration field is a plus.\nWillingness and ability to travel.\nCompensation Details\nThe hourly rate for this role is $30 per hour. This rate range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting.
