You’ll own the system end to end, from defining how the system should work, to prototype board design, prototype firmware bring-up, and debugging issues in the field. \nThe ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of embedded software and hardware development, from bare-metal board bring-up and understanding of microcontroller timing and execution characteristics to high-level software specification and design methods and techniques. \nHow you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation: \nDesign battery and charge management systems with world class safety and fuel gauging capabilities \nProvide support and improvements for existing hardware and software on aircraft \nWrite system level, software, and hardware requirements for certification-intent aircraft charge controller \nLead development of new and improved software and implementation/testing on the hardware and in the aircraft \nSupport debugging and testing of hardware and software in a certification environment \nWork with the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team to provide a seamless charging experience across BETA’s platforms and with 3rd party EVSEs \nMinimum Qualifications We are seeking: (your Knowledge, Experience, and Abilities): \nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, computer science, embedded systems, or related fields. \nExperience and understanding of electrical fundamentals, switching power supplies, electrical isolation/insulation strategies. \nAbility to operate lab equipment including low and high-voltage power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons, etc \nProgramming skills in C, C++, and Python \nExperience with software development and debugging for embedded systems \nExperience with version control systems (git, SVN, etc.) \nAbove and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you: (preferred qualifications): \nMaster’s degree or equivalent experience \nExperience with EV charging standards\nExperience with schematic capture and printed circuit board layout. (Altium preferred) \nUnderstanding of electrical overcurrent protection coordination and high-voltage insulation \nExperience with circuit simulation software, especially related to power electronics stability, line/load regulation, control system responses, etc. \nIn-depth knowledge of high-voltage (>800V) designs and isolation boundaries/techniques for power and signal transmission \nExperience designing and testing for EMI mitigation and EMC \nExperience in aerospace industry \nPilot’s license or an interest in flying \nPhysical Demands and Work Environment: \nThis position will be based on-site in South Burlington, Vermont. \nAbility to transport yourself to various BETA locations around South Burlington, Vermont as needed\nAble to work in a dog-friendly and open-office environment \nWork will occasionally be outdoors when supporting tests \nThe wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role.
