You will be responsible for developing the process and tooling to build new structural assemblies with a scope that spans from high level design feedback that improves manufacturability to setting daily goals for technicians on a build.\nHow you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:\nDevelop and implement the process to build first and early iterations of structures\nDesign tooling that positions and moves components and controls their temperature as dictated by the process\nReview part, assembly, and tool designs and question constraints and complexity\nManage the BOM for complicated assemblies and communicate build dependencies to supply chain\nEstimate build timelines and resource demands accurately and report progress\nLead build efforts on the shop floor by receiving and giving feedback to technicians and catching build issues before damage is done\nTake responsibility for build quality and evaluate and report damage conscientiously\nIterate during and after each build with new tools, new orders of operations, and modifications to assembly design to reduce build time and increase build quality.\nUse FMEA & DOE techniques to determine root cause and execute corrective actions of manufacturing process problems, workmanship defects, test failures, etc.\nGenerate manufacturing assembly documentation to support future builds\nDesign and implement manufacturing aids to assist with precision locating, drilling, fastening, and bonding of structures\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field\n2+ years of hands-on engineering experience\nDriven to solve hard technical problems with rigor and attention to detail - you don't let ambiguity sit\nClear communicator who actively collaborates across disciplines and knows when to pull in the right expertise\nComfortable fabricating parts, working hands-on with physical assemblies, and troubleshooting in a fast-moving build environment\nStrong understanding of composite and machined metallic component manufacturing processes\nProficiency with CAD design tools; 3DX/CATIA preferred\nAbove and Beyond Qualifications:\nBackground as a build engineer in an aerospace or large-vehicle environment\nHands-on composites manufacturing experience, including bonding, drilling, and fastening\nAbility to operate a manual mill and lathe\nWorking knowledge of GD&T, metrology tools, and aerospace assembly methods\nFamiliarity with ASTM, AS/ISO9001, and Type Certification processes\nUnderstanding of design for assembly, rate manufacturing, and mechanics of materials - with the ability to perform and present calculations\nExposure to Mechatronics\nKnowledge of aircraft structures, systems, or interiors\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment:\nThe physical demands and work environment described below are representative of what a Team Member must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
