The Senior Specialist, Software Engineering position will provide technical guidance, make architectural decisions, and contribute to the overall strategy of software development projects. The ideal candidate will be able to work with both technical and non-technical staff to analyze and understand business requirements. Candidates must have very strong skills in architecting Java software solutions in cloud-based environments, data analysis and a solid understanding of SQL and Oracle databases. Additionally, knowledge of shell scripting is essential.\nDuties and Responsibilities of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:\nProvides technical leadership within the development team through writing, testing and debugging complex and critical code for software solutions. Leads the development of major features or components.\nLeads the design and architecture of software systems, making strategic decisions to ensure scalability, flexibility, and maintainability.\nTakes ownership of critical features or modules within projects, driving their development from conception to implementation. Collaborates with product managers to define and refine requirements.\nConducts and leads code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices. Sets and enforces high code quality standards within the team.\nContributes to project planning, estimation, and execution, collaborating with project managers and other leads. Acts as a technical lead on projects, ensuring successful delivery.\nAnalyzes and solves complex and critical programming problems. Provides expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues in the software.\nOversees and contribute to detailed technical documentation for code, architecture, and system design.\nActively contributes to process improvements, optimizing development workflows, and suggesting tools or methodologies that enhance efficiency. Implements best practices in the development process.\nCommunicates effectively within the development team and with stakeholders. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment.\nStays abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to lead innovation within the development team.\nSkills and Experience of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:.\n8+ years of Spring/J2EE application development experience (Spring Framework, Servlets, JDBC)\n4+ years of relational database experience, developing queries and stored procedures (Preferably Oracle)\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field\nExperience in JMS, MQ based messaging services. \nRest API \nBuild tools, Maven, Jenkins, Gradle. \nVersion control: Gitlab \nExperience managing and troubleshooting Cloud based applications (Preferably OCI). \nProven ability to troubleshoot software applications\nDetail oriented, excellent analytical skills and good interpersonal skills\nSelf-motivated and willing to learn and master new technologies\nStrong written and oral communication skills\nAbility to work in fast paced environment\nAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks\nLeadership and mentoring capabilities within a team\nStrong problem-solving skills\nFamiliarity with shell scripting and automation tools.\nExperience in web technologies including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, REST (Preferably ReactJS) is a plus\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices is a plus\nUnderstanding of brokerage or wealth-management back-office workflows like Cost Basis Reporting (CBR) or tax-lot is
