The Controls Engineer II applies professional programming knowledge to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance machine control systems-primarily within baggage handling and sortation environments.\nThis role plays a key part in ensuring system reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction by working closely with Service, Engineering, and Customer teams to support ongoing operations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.\nResponsibilities: \nUnderstand customer operational needs and translate them into effective control system solutions for existing installations.\nTroubleshoot, maintain, and enhance machine control systems for BEUMER sorters using standard BEUMER control code.\nDiagnose and resolve PLC, controls, and system-level issues in live operational environments.\nSupport service activities including corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and system optimization.\nInterpret electrical design drawings and specifications to support troubleshooting and modifications.\nCollaborate with Electrical Engineering to support I/O network troubleshooting, updates, and system improvements.\nPartner with software developers and cross-functional teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancements.\nParticipate in system testing, validation, and updates both remotely and on-site.\nPrepare and maintain accurate service documentation, including as-built updates and change logs.\nSupport on-site service activities, including commissioning support, retrofits, and system upgrades.\nAssist in lifecycle support initiatives, including modernization and continuous improvement efforts.\nProvide technical support and guidance to Field Service Technicians and customers as needed.\nContribute to root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.\nMay be assigned to special projects or other duties as required.\nCompensation range: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 Annually\nThe posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.\n#TalentPoweredByYou\nRequirements/Skills and Abilities: \nBachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).\nMinimum 5 years of relevant experience in controls engineering, preferably within service or support environments.\nTechnical Knowledge:\nAdvanced machine control concepts and troubleshooting methodologies.\nStrong understanding of PLC programming, especially Siemens (TIA Portal).\nExperience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is a plus.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and system documentation.\nCore Competencies:\nAbility to evaluate and resolve controls-related issues independently in time-sensitive environments.\nStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.\nAbility to quickly adapt to new control platforms and evolving technologies.\nExperience using computer-based tools for diagnostics, programming, and service tracking.\nStrong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and customer stakeholders.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.\nProfessional Skills:\nExcellent time management and attention to detail.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nCustomer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.\nProfessional, positive, and proactive attitude.\n• Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as needed (typically up to 25%).\nBEUMER is an innovative company, where every employee is part of the \"family\".
