This role leads and supports mechanical engineering efforts across the full project lifecycle-from concept and basic design through detailed engineering, fabrication, installation, and commissioning. The position places a strong emphasis on conveyor systems and associated mechanical equipment, ensuring solutions are efficient, reliable, and aligned with project requirements, industry standards, and operational performance expectations.\nJob Responsibilities: \nPerform mechanical engineering activities in accordance with sound engineering principles, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards\nDevelop and review mechanical calculations, equipment sizing, specifications, datasheets, and design documentation for material handling systems\nLead the mechanical design of conveyor systems, including belt conveyors, feeders, pulleys, drives, take-ups, and transfer points\nReview and approve mechanical layouts and detailed drawings prepared by designers and drafters\nEnsure all mechanical deliverables meet project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements\nCollaborate with clients, suppliers, and third-party engineering partners to support project execution\nEvaluate supplier proposals, technical documentation, and drawings to ensure compliance with specifications\nSupport procurement, fabrication, pre-assembly, installation, and commissioning activities\nProvide technical support during construction, troubleshooting, and commissioning phases\nConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve technical issues\nMentor junior engineers and designers, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement\nPromote safe, reliable, and maintainable design practices across all projects\nPerform additional duties as assigned\nRequirements / Skills / Abilities: \nBachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.\nAPEGA P.Eng. designation. Other Canadian or USA Professional Engineering designations would be an asset.\n10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in mining, aggregates, cement, industrial minerals, or bulk material handling projects.\nStrong experience with material handling systems, with significant conveyor engineering experience strongly preferred.\nSolid understanding of mechanical system design, machine components, and project execution workflows.\nFamiliarity with applicable industry standards (e.g., CEMA, DIN, ISO) is an asset.\nDemonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary and multi-location project environments.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nHighly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.\nWilling and able to travel to suppliers and project sites as required.\n BEUMER is an innovative intralogistics company, where every employee is part of the \"family\".
