The ID&C Software Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, implementation and configuration management of system software associated with test support and data acquisition systems in an aerospace ground test environment.\nOpen to internal and external candidates.\nThis position requires occasional scheduled extended hours and/or weekend work to meet critical contractual requirements and occasional unscheduled night or weekend support in emergency situations.\nJob Summary\nThe successful candidate will apply programming, design, configuration management, and testing skills to develop complex systems and applications to perform the above functions, while assisting in system/application deployment, installation, maintenance, and support.\nJob Duties:\nPerformance of work, generally within Software Engineering, involves the design, development and maintenance of data acquisition, data processing, data mining, and data storage systems developed and maintained at the AMSC.\nParticipate in one or more of the following:Develop system requirements and design systems that are configurable and modifiable to interface with existing and future hardware and software\nDesign, develop and maintain software and systems to meet system requirements\nPerform software testing and verification\nSupport software configuration management practices to ensure system integrity\nApply system security to meet Federal Information Assurance requirements\nSupport preparation of engineering studies and reports\nUse modern design, development, testing, and configuration management tools for software systems\n\nParticipates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.\nIt is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. \nPerform other duties as required.\nOur Technology Environment:\nLanguages: C++, Python, C, Fortran, and MATLAB.\nScripting Languages: Bash, Shell, Batch and Powershell.\nIDEs: CLion, PyCharm, and Xcode.\nOperating Systems: Microsoft Windows, and Redhat Linux.\nVersion Control: Git, used with Gitlab.\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering or a related scientific discipline from an accredited college or university\nL07: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.\nL08: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. \nRelevant work experience or college coursework in software engineering including design, coding, configuration control and maintenance will be considered for experience.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network.\nCurrent U. Citizenship required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nB.S. degree or post-graduate coursework in a relevant field is preferred.\nA strong aptitude for problem-solving and a demonstrated passion for learning new technologies.\nFamiliarity with Agile development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) and concepts like sprints.\nExperience programming real-time applications is a plus.\nExperience or academic coursework in Graphical User Interface (GUI) development.\nExperience or academic coursework creating software design documentation, including UML diagrams (e.g., class, sequence, or case diagrams).\nCompTIA Security+ Certification, or higher-level security certification, is preferred. \nKnowledge of The Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC).\nKnowledge of Object-Oriented Programming concepts.\nKnowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to Instrumentation, Data, and Controls (ID&C) Software engineering discipline.
