The Jr. Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.\nOpen to internal and external candidates.\nJob Summary\nThe successful candidate for Jr. Design Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for supporting test, maintenance, and capital investment projects at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. The engineer hired into this role will perform design tasks with an emphasis on developing engineering procurement documentation such as Statements of Work, Equipment Specifications, Drawings needed to support those efforts, and other contracting documentation. The engineer will also coordinate with multiple disciplines and departments on the project, and across the complex.\nJob Duties:\nMechanical Design Engineers design, evaluate, analyze, and assist in the fabrication and installation of process systems, piping and hardware. Mechanical design engineers work closely with test and system engineers in development of design requirements and ensuring proposed designs meet those requirements.\nSome specific tasks associated with this type of work include:\nDevelop concepts for new process systems to meet applicable codes and standards; providing hydraulic, thermal, stress, or other analysis as needed to support the proposed design.\nDesigning one-of-a-kind of mechanisms, wind tunnel models, and test fixtures including associated stress analysis.\nAnalyze static and dynamic loads, deflections, stress, heat transfer, thermal stress, thermal growth in support of new component development and/or component or facility modifications.\nProvide engineering support to the appropriate craft workforce to facilitate maintenance and repair of existing systems. Evaluate existing hardware for safety, security, and potential for improvement.\nWork with the design team (design engineers, drafters, checkers, etc.) to produce complete design packages, including detailed drawings, analysis reports, and equipment specifications, and be capable of communicating the details of these design packages to the remaining project team (system engineers, test engineers, project managers, craft supervisors, etc.)\nCoordinate with the appropriate system engineer, craft supervisor, and/or work planner to ensure that hardware is fabricated and installed in accordance with the approved design package.\nIt is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.\nPerform other related duties as required.\nBasic Qualifications:\nS. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering from an accredited college or university.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.\nS.
