The NDE Technician will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.\nOpen to internal and external candidates.\nJob Summary\nThe NDE Technician will play an important role in ensuring the safety and reliability of various materials, components, and structures, and welding fabrication using a variety of techniques to detect flaws, imperfections, or changes in material properties that could lead to failure.\nJob Duties:\n NOTE: Level of responsibility, specific techniques utilized, and level of independence will be guided by the level the selected candidate qualifies for.\nPerforms and assists in nondestructive testing on piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, test hardware, and rocket motors.\nUtilize various methods to inspect materials and components such as radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, eddy current testing, infrared thermography, etc. Once results are obtained, the technician will interpret the results from the testing process to identify and characterize any flaws or anomalies and document their findings in detailed reports. \nWitness and verifies procedural compliance of both hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of piping systems and pressure vessels.\nPerforms In-Service Inspections (ISI) of PHMS certified systems, document findings, and assist PHMS engineering in monitoring corrective action.\nAdministers and witness welder performance qualification (WPQ) test.\nMaintains inventory, proper maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment as needed.\nPerforms NDT in certified methods at geographically separated units.\nPerforms toolbox inspections.\nIt is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. \nPerform other duties as required. \nBasic Qualifications:\nHigh School diploma or equivalent and 1+ years related NDE experience.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.\nU.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAssociate’s degree in engineering technology with curriculum in non-destructive testing and evaluation.\nCurrent AWS CWI and /or API certifications.\nQualified and certifiable as Level I/II in the following NDE methods: Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT-UTT), Radiographic Testing (RT-RAM/X-ray), and Visual Testing (VT) OR must pass the Level I certification examination for at least 1 NDT method within 6 months of employment.\nASNT Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) certification or state-issued radiographer card OR must be obtained within 24 months of employment.\nRespirator use certification must be obtained as required.\nA strong understanding or interest in materials science, physics, and engineering principles.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Excel and Word products.\nCareful attention to detail.\nStrong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.\nExperience reading piping drawings.\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salaries\nContinuing education assistance\nMultiple healthcare benefits packages\n401K with employer matching\nPaid time off (PTO) along with a federally recognized holiday schedule\nWho We Are\nBeyond New Horizons (BNH) is a fully populated joint venture of Astrion and Fluor Federal Services, Inc. formed to provide unmatched Test Operations and Sustainment services for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex.\nWe chose our name to serve as an enduring reminder of our commitment to AEDC’s rich aerospace research and development legacy anchored in AEDC’s Toward New Horizons founding study and the unprecedented opportunities to greatly expand AEDC’s capabilities and capacity Beyond those existing today.
