BGE goes beyond competitive benefits to attract and retain the best in an environment that inspires excellence.\nPosition is for in house and can be located at our Houston, Katy or The Woodlands, TX office.\nWe are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Survey Data Technician to support the Survey team by managing, processing, reviewing, and preparing field-collected survey data. This position serves as a key link between field crews and project deliverables, helping ensure that survey information is complete, accurate, well organized, and ready for mapping, modeling, design support, and client delivery.\nThe ideal candidate will have practical experience with survey data processing, topographic data, field documentation, surface modeling, and quality assurance/quality control procedures. Strong organization, technical judgment, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nField Data and Logbook Management\nManage, maintain, and track daily field logbooks and associated project records.\nReceive, organize, and archive daily field files using established project naming and filing standards.\nConfirm that required field documentation has been submitted and is complete.\nCoordinate with field crews to resolve missing information, unclear notes, or data discrepancies.\nSurvey Data Processing\nDownload, import, process, and organize daily topographic survey files.\nPost-process survey data and prepare files for drafting, mapping, surface development, and deliverables.\nReview feature coding, descriptions, linework, and collected attributes for consistency.\nMaintain orderly working files and preserve supporting data in accordance with company standards.\nReview construction plans and prepare staking calculations for field crews\nQuality Assurance / Quality Control\nPerform QA/QC reviews of field notes for completeness, clarity, and consistency with collected data.\nIdentify potential errors, omissions, outliers, or conflicts in field data and supporting documentation.\nCoordinate needed corrections with field personnel, technicians, and project managers.\nFollow established quality processes and document significant corrections or assumptions.\nTopographic Data and Deliverables\nOccasionally help create field packets and line out our survey crews for jobs\nClean up topographic survey data and linework for mapping and final deliverables.\nInput and verify utility and drainage invert information.\nEnter temporary benchmark (TBM) notes, elevations, locations, and descriptions.\nPrepare finished survey topo data products, including topographic deliverables and surface models, as assigned.\nAssist with post-construction and as-built data processing when required.\nSurface Modeling\nCreate and review terrain and surface models for QA/QC, design support, and project deliverables.\nInspect surfaces for gaps, spikes, voids, crossing breaklines, and other anomalies.\nCompare surface results with field notes, source data, and project requirements.\nPrepare surface files and supporting information for internal and external project teams.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED.\nWorking knowledge of land surveying practices, terminology, and field-to-finish workflows.\nExperience processing survey data, reviewing field notes, or supporting survey drafting and deliverables.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.\nAbility to organize multiple projects, priorities, and daily data submissions.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nGood computer skills and the ability to learn company software, standards, and procedures.\nValid driver’s license.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAssociate degree or technical coursework in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, GIS, CAD, or a related field.\nThree or more years of Survey Drafter, Survey Data Technician, CAD, or related experience.\nKnowledge of basic civil engineering concepts.\nExperience supporting topographic, transportation, utility, municipal, land development, or as-built surveys.\nSome of our Benefits:\n401k Match: 100% up to 4% of your contributions with immediate vesting + 3% Safe Harbor Contribution with immediate vesting\nMerit-Based Bonus Compensation\nMedical, Dental, Vision Insurance; BGE contributes to HSA on eligible plans\n9 paid Holidays, including 3 Floating holidays\nPersonal Time Allowances \n2 to 4 weeks of Vacation, depending on experience-level.
