Reporting directly to the Team Leader, you will work collaboratively with both client and BGIS teams while completing your apprenticeship, gaining valuable hands-on experience across commercial HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical services, and facility maintenance.\nThe ideal candidate will be eager to learn, enjoy practical problem-solving, and be excited to build a long-term career in the HVAC industry. You'll be supported by experienced technicians, structured training, and a team committed to helping apprentices develop their skills and confidence.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.\nSupport servicing of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, and mechanical plant equipment.\nParticipate in planned and reactive maintenance activities across a large healthcare precinct.\nLearn how to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults under the guidance of experienced technicians.\nAssist with inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities.\nSupport the maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated equipment.\nOrder materials and assist with maintaining tools, plant, and equipment.\nBuild positive working relationships with team members, contractors, suppliers, and site stakeholders.\nParticipate in the BGIS Apprentice Training Program and complete all assigned learning modules.\nMaintain compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and site requirements. \nEducation, Experience & Skills\nEssential:\nCurrent White Card.\nMinimum Year 10 Certificate or equivalent.\nGenuine interest in developing a career within HVAC and Refrigeration.\nStrong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.\nGood communication and teamwork skills.\nAbility to follow instructions and work safely.\nPositive attitude and commitment to professional development.\nAustralian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.\nDesirable:\nPrevious exposure to construction, maintenance, facilities management, or trade environments.\nFamiliarity with hand tools and power tools.\nExposure to mechanical services, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, or electrical trades.\nCurrent Driver's Licence or working towards obtaining one.\nInterest in working within large and complex facilities.\nWorkplace Flexibility\nTo support your growth, this position will be based on-site in Southport within a major healthcare environment.
