We pride ourselves on maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.\nPurpose of the Role\nBGIS is seeking an experienced Shift Technician - Electrical to support the delivery of planned and reactive electrical maintenance within a large, complex healthcare environment.\nReporting directly to the Electrical Team Leader, you will work closely with BGIS teams, subcontractors, and site stakeholders to ensure critical electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and in line with compliance requirements. Your work will support essential infrastructure that enables continuous care and operations within a major hospital setting.\nThe ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-focused, and collaborative, with a strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and supporting others within the team.\nKey Responsibilities\nExecute planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across a diverse range of systems, including emergency lighting, switchboards, protection systems and high-voltage infrastructure.\nOperate, maintain and optimise critical plant and essential facility infrastructure to ensure maximum reliability and operational continuity.\nDiagnose, troubleshoot and rectify faults on critical electrical and building systems with a strong focus on minimising downtime.\nManage and complete work orders within agreed service levels, utilising BGIS maintenance management and reporting systems.\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to apprentices while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary maintenance teams.\nCoordinate and monitor specialist contractors as required.\nPerform high voltage switching operations and support the maintenance and operation of site generation, distribution and auxiliary plant equipment.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records, technical documentation and compliance reporting in accordance with WHSE requirements and BGIS procedures.\nDevelop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, site stakeholders, suppliers and internal teams to support service excellence.\nContribute to the delivery of critical facility operations by responding effectively to emergencies, outages and plant-related incidents.\nEducation, Experience & Skills\nEssential:\nCertificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent).\nCurrent White Card and EWP licence.\nExperience in electrical maintenance, including exposure to high voltage environments.\nStrong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.\nAbility to work with digital systems and maintenance platforms.\nDesirable:\nHigh Voltage Switching Certification \nExperience mentoring apprentices or supporting team development.\nExposure to healthcare or other critical environments.\nBroad understanding of related trades such as mechanical, plumbing, or refrigeration.\nExperience coordinating subcontractors and working within facilities teams.\nWorkplace Flexibility\nThis role is based full-time on-site in Southport, within a major healthcare campus.\nYou will work a structured rotating shift roster averaging 42 hours per week, designed to provide balanced time on and off site.\nShift Pattern:\n3 x 12-hour day shifts\n3 x 12-hour night shifts\n4 days off\n4 x 12-hour day shifts\n6 days off\n4 x
