The Controller also coordinates the production of accurate and timely accounting reports and financial statements, including Joint Venture reporting.\nThey are responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of the accounting specialists. This position is responsible for maintaining a system of internal controls that ensures company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, filing requirements and applicable accounting principles. Assist with the accounting systems conversion.\n Key Responsibilities:\nPreparation of more complex or judgmental journal entries in a timely and accurate manner. \nCost of Sales, Warranty, Allocations, Payroll, Eliminations, Consolidations, Dissolutions, etc. Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly checklists to facilitate efficient month-end and quarter-end close process to meet all required deadlines.\nReview and manage the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations (bank, intercompany, payroll, etc.), job costs, subledgers Banking and Check Disbursement\nReview check disbursement packages for completeness, proper approval and accuracy.\nApproval of G&A disbursements\nSigning checks, authorizing ACH, EFT or wire disbursements, cashier checks\nAny required banking functions including stop payments, positive pay, disbursement, setting up bank accounts, etc\nPrepare monthly, quarterly and year-end working papers including full balance sheet reconciliation, ledger and sub-ledger journal entries, supporting financial and operational statements, and any required variance analysis\nMaintain, create or improve system-generated reports, using Fast, NSE, InformXL, report writer software, and excel files\nPreparation of supporting documentation for business, tax or income tax filings\nPrepare reports or corporate packs on a timely basis and verify the accuracy and present the results in monthly finance meeting\nPrepare analysis of various accounts-warranty, insurance, cost of sales, etc.\nRespond to other departments requests and needs.\nSupervise various accounting team members in recording and administration of the financial transactions. They serve as an accounting manager and support members of the finance department.\nActively participate in the accounting human resource strategies by communicating and enforcing values, policies and procedures; implementing selection, orientation, training, coaching, mentoring, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, supervising, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.\nSet up of new companies, projects, accounts in various systems.\nVerify accuracy of information in the new system and that balances reconcile\nDevelop and prepare system and non-system reports, training materials, and supporting resources.\nMaintain oversight of the Division's internal control environment, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements, corporate policies, and regulatory standards.\nPartner with Operations and IT to evaluate, document, and enhance key business processes, controls, and reporting to strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness.\nMonitor adherence to internal control policies and procedures, providing ongoing training and guidance to accounting team members.\nLead the coordination of internal and external audits, including audit planning, support, issue resolution, and management responses.\nPrepare and review audit documentation, ensure completeness and accuracy of supporting materials, and serve as the primary liaison with auditors.\nIdentify control gaps, compliance risks, and process improvement opportunities, implementing corrective actions as needed.\nWhat You'll Bring:\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; CPA designation required.\nMinimum 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, full-cycle accounting, job cost accounting, and month-end and year-end close processes.\nProven leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing accounting teams while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.\nStrong knowledge of financial reporting standards, internal controls, audit processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.\nExceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.\nAbility to effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and influence decision-making across all levels of the organization.\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and reliable financial information.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, as well as experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.\nExperience within the real estate, homebuilding, land development, construction, or manufacturing industries is considered an asset.\nWhat We Offer:\nCompetitive compensation and total rewards package.\nAnnual Base Salary: $165,000.00 to $180,000.00\nBonus Eligibility.\nExcellent extended medical, dental and vision benefits beginning day 1.\n401(k) matching, vesting begins day 1.\nCareer development programs.\nCharitable donation matching.\nPaid Volunteer Hours.\nPaid parental leave.\nFamily planning assistance including IVF, surrogacy and adoptions options.\nWellness and mental health resources.\nPet insurance offering.\nA culture based on our values of Passion, Integrity and Community!\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
