The Designer is actively involved in enhancing existing products and acting as a liaison for internal and external business partners. As demand dictates, the Designer supports new product development.\nKey Responsibilities:\nSet up individual job files.\nRequest or complete plot plans and review for accuracy.\nSet up CAD/REVIT job files.\nApply for Architectural approvals.\nMake job specific changes to working drawings as per customer requests.\nSelect exterior colors as required.\nLiaise with sales department in regards to change orders and requests for pricing.\nLiaise with construction department and or trade partners in regards to questions or concerns with drawings.\nReview job specific engineering, roof and floor layouts against completed working drawings.\nDistribute construction documents to Sales, Estimating, Construction and Trade Partners.\nApply for building permits.\nEnsure production timelines are met.\nReview new stages for compliance with existing product and city by-laws.\nComplete new stage setup.\nResolve onsite construction issues as they arise. (framing, engineering, floor and roof layouts, finishing, electrical, etc.)\nComplete Design Spec Changes (DSC) and AIM’s in CAD/REVIT master drawings. Issue DSC to housing group and maintain DSC electronic folders.\nProduce Marketing Brochures; create CAD/REVIT files, create marketing PDF’s and review 3D renderings as required.\nProduce and maintain tender drawings.\nCreate and distribute Master Job Lists.\nComplete working drawings for new plan options and new elevations.\nParticipate in product development meetings. (when required)\nParticipate in framing walk through of new product. (Showhomes/prototypes)\nReview floor and roof layouts as required. (supplier change, revised engineering)\nReview and maintain current engineering for production.\nReview supplier products as new items are available.\nLiaise with City in regards to code, bylaw or application concerns and questions\nKeep current on code, bylaw, engineering and industry changes by attending, but not limited to, industry seminars, information sessions, product demonstrations and Professional Home Builders Institute (PHBI) courses.\nMaintain relationship with local City contacts and work with them to improve our turnaround time for permits.\nProvide training to others (new team members, Sales, Construction, Estimating) with respect to production department procedures and areas of responsibility.\nCreate & maintain training documentation as required.\n\nWhat You'll Bring:\nPost-Secondary Diploma in Architectural Technologies, Civil Engineering or other related field.\n5+ years of industry experience.\nStrong knowledge of industry, building code, and government requirements.\nStrong proficiency using MS Office, AutoCAD, and REVIT.\nAdvanced critical thinking and problem solving skills.\nEffective communication skills; ability to communicate with customers, team members and external partners.\nAbility to prioritize work and manage multiple competing priorities.\nDetail oriented with strong organizational skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nWhat We Offer:\nCompetitive Compensation.\nHealth Benefits and Dental.\nA culture based on our values of Passion, Integrity and Community!.\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
