Candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of either the Pittston, PA or Omaha, NE BHDIC office for required onsite meetings as needed in whichever BHDIC office is local to the employee.\nJob Responsibilities\nContribute as a senior technical resource on a cross functional, agile development team including members from development, quality assurance, and business analysts\nServe as technical SME for a particular domain within the overall platform\nProvide guidance and mentoring including pair programming, code reviews, demos, and group/1:1 coaching.\nDesign system features to meet business objectives while fitting into the enterprise platform ecosystem\nContribute to cross-team platform design decisions\nCollaborate with Product team to ensure that requirements are understood, and short-term and long-term business objectives are met\nFollow department-wide technical, process, and quality standards while contributing to their improvement\nTake a lead role in creating technical documentation and content, ensuring that knowledge is transferred across the team\nDeliver regular and frequent code contributions aligned with User Stories and sprint goals\nGuide the team regarding unit testing; collaborate closely with QA resources to guarantee successful functional and regression testing of all features\nEnsure that the team achieves system performance goals\nEnsure that the team thinks with a security first mindset\nTake ownership of problems and solutions, being proactive to ensure success\nProvide innovative problem-solving skills, thinking outside the box\nOccasional travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA area for strategy meetings (several times per year)\nNormal working hours based on Eastern US time\nRequirements\nQualifications\nRequired Education and Knowledge:\nBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/related field or equivalent working experience\n10+ years of experience as a software developer, primarily using C#\nExcellent programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skills with C# and .NET\n3+ years of experience contributing in a senior technical role\nEnterprise level system architecture experience, designing and delivering RESTful APIs, integrations, and complex business processes\nEnterprise level design and configuration of cloud services including serverless, data storage, messaging, logging, etc., preferably with Azure\nExperience with design and implementation of both monolithic and microservice architectures\nExperience designing reliable and performant data storage solutions and schemas utilizing cloud technologies including SQL DBs, Document DBs, and unstructured data\nExperience with creating CI/CD pipelines supporting Infrastructure as Code (IAC)\nStrong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration capabilities, and attention to detail\nExperience working on large software development projects while collaborating across multiple agile teams\nPreferred Knowledge and Experience:\nCommercial Property and Casualty insurance experience\nPractical working knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, and .NET Core\nExperience with TypeScript and SPA frameworks (Angular, React, etc.)\nAbout Us\nbiBerk is where commercial insurance buyers can obtain coverage for their businesses from insurers of the Berkshire Hathaway group of Insurance Companies, one of the best capitalized insurance groups in the world. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $155,000 per year.
