Do you want to join a growing team with a modern engineering culture?\nAt BiblioCommons, we build SaaS solutions for public libraries that directly impact the lives of millions and foster learning, literacy and culture within the digital world. We are constantly improving our products through user research, client interaction, and the input of our creative staff. Join a team of passionate professionals making public libraries accessible, delightful, and engaging.\nA lot of companies tout 'social impact', here at BiblioCommons we serve over 8 million diverse users each month by partnering with close to 200 public libraries in Canada, the US and New Zealand. Libraries are more than just book stacks; they are public spaces that foster learning, connection, and community and BiblioCommons is bringing that community online with clever software that powers the world's largest libraries.\nEngineering @ BiblioCommons\nBiblioCommons offers an opportunity to work in an environment that combines the challenges and complexity of a large-scale, data-intensive application with the creativity and fun of a sophisticated consumer web offering, central to the daily web interactions of millions of users.\nWe’re a highly collaborative team that applies innovative solutions to challenging problems. We believe strongly in automation and invest heavily in it. We’re also committed to doing things right and always looking for ways to do them better. Today, that means building an AI-first software development lifecycle, where engineers use agentic coding tools like Claude Code to plan, build, test, and review changes across our platform.\nWe are hiring two Junior Full-Stack Engineers for 16-month PEY internships to maintain and build elegant, high-performance web experiences that help millions of users discover more physical and digital content. You will work across the full stack, primarily through Claude Code: directing an AI agent to explore our codebase, write and refactor code, generate tests, and investigate issues, while you own the thinking, the judgment, and the quality of everything that ships.\nBy AI-native, we mean someone for whom working with AI agents is already the natural way to build software, and who understands the code well enough to own it. We care less about how fast you can prompt and more about how well you can direct, verify, and improve what an agent produces.\nYou will enjoy and be successful in this role if you are:\nGreat at debugging and not afraid to step out of your comfort zone.\nAccountable and take ownership of your work, including every line of code an AI agent writes on your behalf.\nSupportive and enjoy working as part of a team.\nPassionate about self-improvement, growth, and tackling new challenges.\nReliable and consistent in the effort you bring.\nNever content with the status quo. You are always looking to automate, improve processes, and follow best practices.\nAI-native: AI agents are already your default way to learn, build, and solve problems, not an occasional experiment.\nHealthily skeptical: you verify AI output instead of trusting it, and you can tell when an agent is confidently wrong.\nHow you will make an impact:\nEnhance and maintain our platform applications, front end and back end, that serve millions of users, using Claude Code as your primary development tool.\nTurn tickets into clear specs and plans before implementation, and use them to guide the agent through well-scoped, reviewable changes.\nDebug and perform root cause analysis on integration issues, using AI to trace code paths, read logs, and test hypotheses quickly.\nReview, test, and refine AI-generated code so that what you ship is clean, robust, performant, and secure.\nMaintain quality as a priority by writing meaningful tests and validating them yourself.\nImprove developer productivity by refactoring key areas of the Core UI codebase.\nContribute to our shared AI tooling, such as Claude Code custom commands, skills, and project context files, so the whole team gets faster.\nWork across multiple frameworks and programming languages, using AI to ramp up quickly on unfamiliar parts of a large, mature codebase.\nCommunicate effectively to flag challenges or blockers to deliver on time.\nWhat will you bring to the team:\nHands-on experience building software with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar) through coursework, personal projects, hackathons, or previous internships.\nAbility to break a problem into clear, well-scoped instructions and give an agent the context it needs to succeed.\nSolid fundamentals in data structures and algorithms. You need to understand the code to judge it.\nKnowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.\nSome knowledge of RESTful APIs and how web applications fit together, from browser to database.\nExcellent problem-solving and debugging skills.\nExcellent communication skills and collaboration across teams.\nPassion and motivation to learn new technologies.\nInterest in building highly responsive consumer web application interfaces at scale.\nBonus Points for:\nReact, Ruby, and Rails knowledge.\nPrevious programming experience in any object-oriented language.\nExperience customizing AI coding workflows, such as custom commands, skills, subagents, hooks, or MCP server integrations.\nA portfolio, GitHub repo, or short write-up showing something you built with an AI agent and what you learned about working with one.\nKnowledge of cloud-native applications.\nBasic computer networking knowledge (connectivity issues, LANs, firewalls, etc.).\nSalary Range:\n$50,000 - $65,000\n Worker Type:\nStudent (Fixed Term) (Trainee)Number of Openings Available:\n0","description_format":"text","description_chars":5756,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Web Portals","Custom Software Development"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-11-05T15:12:18Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":22,"reasons":["conf:2","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-11-07T05:47:08Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":46551,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/bibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/bibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-07T14:35:54Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":18951,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-08T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1755901},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1755901"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fbibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fbibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fbibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/bibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fbibliocommons-pey-junior-fullstack-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3812827}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"bibliocommons.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3812827},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
