Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you’ll lead a team of 10 and be responsible for delivering safe, compliant and efficient operations while driving customer service, financial performance and continuous improvement. You’ll use your leadership skills and operational experience to create a positive safety culture, develop your team and ensure the depot consistently meets its operational, environmental and commercial targets.\nYour core responsibilities\nLead, coach and develop a team of 10, creating a strong culture of safety, engagement, accountability and continuous improvement. \nTake overall responsibility for the site’s health, safety and environmental performance, ensuring compliance with legislation, permits and company standards. \nDrive operational excellence by ensuring the right people, plant and processes are in place to deliver an efficient and effective service. \nManage customer requirements, site capacity, bookings and resources to ensure service levels and OTIF targets are consistently achieved. \nTake ownership of the depot’s financial performance, managing costs, budgets and P&L performance while identifying opportunities to improve profitability. \nMonitor site KPIs and performance, identifying areas for improvement and taking action to deliver against operational, compliance and commercial targets. \nWork collaboratively with regional and national teams to optimise transport, processing and disposal costs and develop innovative service solutions. \nSupport new projects and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring the depot is prepared for future legislative, customer and operational requirements. \nOur essential requirements\nExperience managing an operational team within the hazardous waste industry, ideally within a hazardous waste transfer or physical-chemical treatment environment. \nA degree in Chemistry, a related science discipline or Engineering, alongside IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent qualification. \nStrong knowledge of hazardous waste legislation, with an understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. \nProven leadership experience, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a mixed-skilled team in a busy operational environment. \nStrong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make decisions confidently. \nExperience with risk assessments, method statements, incident investigations and performance management, alongside good IT skills including Microsoft Office.\nAnd here’s why you’ll love it at Biffa.\nOngoing career development, training and coaching - because if you don’t grow, we don’t grow. \nCar allowance.\nGenerous pension scheme. \nMedical and dental scheme. \nRetail and leisure discounts. \nHoliday and travel discounts. \nBike to work scheme.\nChanging the way people think about waste.\nAt Biffa, we love working with waste.
