Candidates must be capable of carrying out installations, repairs, commissioning, fault finding, and planned and reactive maintenance with minimal supervision, with a basic understanding of three-phase electrical systems and equipment testing. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement activities and working alongside the MDR MRF Cleaning Team to maximise maintenance efficiency and plant uptime.\nKey Responsibilities\nWork independently and efficiently to diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults across plant equipment.\nCarry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, installations, and continuous improvement activities.\nConfidently commission and test-run equipment following installation or maintenance work.\nComplete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities and reactive maintenance tasks using the CMMS system and provide detailed technical feedback.\nParticipate in site training and development activities, including MEWP, FLT, Telehandler, and Confined Space Entry training.\nEssential Criteria\nNVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent.\nStrong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience within an industrial environment.\nExperience commissioning, test-running, and fault-finding on industrial plant and equipment.\nAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic drawings.\nGood working knowledge of: Rotating machinery, Shaft alignment, Machinery installation and mounting, Conveying systems, Pneumatics & Hydraulics\nCompetent in the use of machine tools and hand tools associated with maintenance activities.\nWorking knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) systems.\nBiffa - we’re changing the way people think about waste\nAt Biffa, we love working with waste.
