The role develops and deploys AI/ML, analytics, and automation solutions, supports mission modeling and decision support, and helps transition successful pilots into enterprise capabilities.\n\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and deploy AI/ML solutions supporting Coast Guard mission and business operations\nBuild predictive, prescriptive, classification, anomaly detection, natural language processing (NLP), and generative AI solutions\nDevelop machine learning models that improve operational decision-making, workforce productivity, and mission effectiveness\nSupport development of AI-enabled minimum viable products (MVPs) and automation pilots\nConduct exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics using structured and unstructured data\nIdentify trends, patterns, and operational insights to support Coast Guard leadership decisions\nDevelop dashboards, visualizations, performance metrics, and analytical products to support enterprise transformation initiatives\nEstablish repeatable analytics methodologies and data science best practices\nDevelop and optimize data pipelines supporting AI/ML initiatives\nAssist with database design, ETL processes, data cleansing, transformation, and reporting activities\nDesign reusable and scalable data models and architectures\nDiagnose data quality issues and recommend corrective actions\nSupport integration of data from multiple Coast Guard systems and repositories\nSupport automation opportunity assessments, feasibility analyses, and pilot evaluations\nCollaborate with automation engineers to integrate AI/ML capabilities into workflow automation, RPA, ServiceNow, UiPath, Power Platform, Salesforce, and Appian solutions\nParticipate in business process reengineering efforts and identify opportunities to automate manual processes through AI and advanced analytics\nSupport mission modeling and simulation initiatives that evaluate mission execution, staffing models, operational impacts, and technology alternatives\nDevelop analytical models that assist with scenario planning, operational experimentation, and performance forecasting\nProvide recommendations to leadership based on model outputs and analytical findings\nParticipate in Agile planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, demonstrations, and release activities\nCollaborate with product owners, developers, business analysts, architects, and mission stakeholders to translate use cases into AI/ML solutions\nSupport technical demonstrations, pilot evaluations, and user feedback sessions\n\nSkills\nClearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust\nBachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field\n7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or advanced analytics\nExperience developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments\nStrong proficiency with:\nPython\nSQL\nMachine Learning frameworks (Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain)\nExperience performing:\nPredictive analytics\nStatistical analysis\nData mining\nModel evaluation and validation\nExperience working with large datasets and complex data environments\nExperience developing Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions\nExperience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture\nExperience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Airflow, or AWS Glue\nExperience with cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GovCloud\nExperience integrating AI/ML capabilities into:\nUiPath\nServiceNow\nPower Platform\nAppian\nStrong communication skills with experience briefing technical and non-technical stakeholders\nU.S. Citizenship required\nAbility to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust\nExperience supporting DHS, USCG, DoD, or other Federal agencies\nAWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer\n\nBenefits\nRemote\n\nCompany Overview\nBig Impact Tech (BIT) is a small business that provides Business Management and IT Consulting Services to the public and private sectors.
