Your work will directly affect system reliability, developer productivity, and user access across the enterprise.\nWhat you will do\nDesign, implement, and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs that handle authentication, authorization, and other middleware concerns.\nModel, query, and optimize NoSQL data stores and integrate them with Spring Boot apps for low-latency production workloads.\nTroubleshoot production issues across application, database, and integration layers; lead incident response and produce durable fixes.\nContribute to system design decisions including hardware/software trade-offs and reuse vs. new development (COTS/GOTS).\nWrite and maintain automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment artifacts; collaborate with DevOps/infrastructure teams.\nReview code, produce design documentation, and mentor less-experienced engineers.\nWhat you should have\n An active TS/SCI with Poly clearance\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 12+ years of software engineering experience. An additional 4 years of software engineering experience may be substituted for the degree (total 16 years).\nProven, hands-on experience developing and maintaining Java/Spring Boot applications: RESTful APIs, microservices, dependency injection, configuration management, and production troubleshooting.\nHands-on experience with NoSQL databases: data modeling, querying, indexing, performance optimization, and integrating NoSQL stores with Spring Boot.\nWhat we'd like you to have\nFamiliarity with MongoDB: document modeling, queries, indexes, aggregation, and Spring Data MongoDB.\nExperience integrating applications with LDAP/Active Directory, including user authentication, authorization, directory lookups, and Spring Security/LDAP.\nStrong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, application security patterns, and enterprise application architecture.\nExperience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven, and production deployment environments.\nAbility to troubleshoot complex application, database, and integration issues; proven collaborator across development and infrastructure teams.\nWorking conditions & expectations\nTelework possible after you’re established on the team (onboarding period onsite or hybrid may be required - will be discussed during screening).\nAbout BigBear.ai\nBigBear.ai is a leading provider of AI-powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity.
