Our mission is to increase the freedom of money and financial access for people around the world.\nAbout the Role\n As a Backend Engineer on the Pay & Card team, you will work on backend systems powering crypto and fiat payment experiences for users and merchants globally.You will collaborate with backend engineers, product managers, QA engineers, and other cross-functional teams to build reliable, secure, and scalable payment services. You will gain hands-on experience with high-throughput transaction systems, distributed architectures, payment processing, and financial infrastructure.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain backend services supporting Binance Pay and Card products.\nBuild scalable APIs and microservices for payment processing, transaction management, merchant services, and related financial workflows.\nParticipate in the development of distributed systems handling high-volume and latency-sensitive transactions.\nWork with databases, caching systems, message queues, and other infrastructure components to improve system performance and reliability.\nImplement robust transaction workflows with appropriate handling for retries, idempotency, concurrency, and failure scenarios.\nAssist with troubleshooting production issues through logs, metrics, tracing, and root-cause analysis.\nWrite clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.\nCollaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\nContribute to improvements in system reliability, observability, security, and engineering practices.\nRequirements\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.\nStrong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and computer science fundamentals.\nProficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Go, C++, Python, or a similar language.\nUnderstanding of relational databases and SQL, including indexes, transactions, and database design fundamentals.\nFamiliarity with RESTful APIs, HTTP, networking, and client-server architecture.\nUnderstanding of operating systems, concurrency, and common backend engineering concepts.\nAbility to write clear, maintainable code and reason systematically about technical problems.\nStrong communication skills and willingness to learn in a fast-moving engineering environment.\nNice to Have\nFamiliarity with MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or other message-queue technologies.\nUnderstanding of distributed-system concepts such as consistency, availability, replication, caching, asynchronous processing, and fault tolerance.\nKnowledge of payment concepts such as authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, chargebacks, and payment lifecycle management.\nPrevious backend engineering internship, personal project, hackathon, or open-source experience.\nInterest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, fintech, and payment infrastructure.\nWhy Binance\nShape the future of finance \nCollaborate with world-class talent in a user-centric global organization with a flat structure\nTackle challenging projects in a fast-paced and innovative enviornment with autonomy\nThrive in a results-driven workplace with opportunities for career growth and continuous learning\nCompetitive salary and company benefits\nRemote-first, work-from-home arrangement (may vary depending on the nature of the role and team)\nBinance is committed to being an equal opportunity employer.
