We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our growing team and help us build and maintain a robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate with our development teams to ensure our systems are efficient and reliable as we scale our operations.\nLOCATION\nBinti is headquartered in San Francisco, California and this role would be expected to be in-person (in-person office days are Mondays and Thursdays across the company). Much of our team is local to the San Francisco Bay Area and works via a hybrid setup - in-person from the office some days and remote otherwise. Satellite offices, like Seattle, Washington, set their own in-office days and hybrid policies, but in general employees are encouraged to join the leadership team on the days when they will be in the office for collaboration and team cohesion.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nDesign and implement infrastructure as code using Pulumi and TypeScript to manage cloud resources efficiently.\n\nManage and optimize Kubernetes clusters using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for application deployment, scaling, and monitoring.\n\nDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using BuildKite to automate testing, building, and deployment processes.\n\nSet up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using Honeycomb and Google Cloud Logging to proactively identify and resolve issues.\n\nCollaborate with development teams to understand their needs and provide effective infrastructure solutions.\n\nPlan and execute strategies for scaling infrastructure to meet growing demand and ensure high availability.\n\nOptimize cloud resource usage to control costs while maintaining performance and reliability.\n\nDevelop and test disaster recovery and backup procedures to ensure business continuity.\n\nAutomate repetitive tasks and processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce errors.\n\nDocument infrastructure configurations and procedures.\n\nStay up-to-date with the latest DevOps technologies and trends.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nProven experience with infrastructure as code, ideally using Pulumi.\n\nProficiency in TypeScript for writing and maintaining infrastructure code.\n\nHands-on experience with Kubernetes, including cluster management and orchestration.\n\nStrong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.\n\nKnowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker.\n\nExperience with CI/CD tools like BuildKite, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.\n\nFamiliarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.\n\nUnderstanding of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.\n\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple priorities.\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\n\nStrong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.\n\nParticipate in on-call rotations during working hours to support production systems.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience with our chosen technologies and services: Pulumi, GKE, TypeScript, BuildKite, Honeycomb\n\nExperience implementing security best practices to ensure compliance across the infrastructure.\n\nExperience with database management and optimization.\n\nExperience scaling Ruby on Rails applications.\n\nScripting skills in languages like Ruby, Python, and Bash.\n\nPlease note that at this time, Binti is only able to accommodate candidates who are authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.\nFinal selected candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment may be required to undergo a background and reference check, which could include verification of employment and education, criminal history review, and, where applicable, fingerprinting.\nBENEFITS & PERKS\nAn above-market compensation package (salary + equity)\n\nExcellent medical, dental, vision, and life insurance - 99% of insurance premiums covered for you + your dependents\n\nFlexible vacation time to promote a healthy work-life blend\n\n13 paid holidays; 11 federally observed holidays (including Juneteenth), plus Election Day and the day after Thanksgiving\n\n16 weeks of paid parental bonding leave for the arrival of a newborn or newly placed infant\n\nSick/mental health time separate from vacation days (accrue up to a cap of 80 hours)\n\n4 weeks of sabbatical after 4 years of service at the company\n\n401k, Commuter benefits, FSA, and DCFSA\n\n$5,000 annual bonus for employees who volunteer as a CASA (court-appointed special advocates)\n\n$2,500 annual reimbursement for ongoing learning and development, with opportunities to attend trainings/conferences, on-site speaker series, and lunch and learns\n\n$300 reimbursement for initial office setup\n\n$50 a month effective work reimbursement to cover internet, electricity, office setup costs, or lunch/snacks with coworkers\n\nPaid jury duty\n\nAt Binti, we celebrate having a diverse team and believe our differences make us stronger.
