You'll own our Discord communities and be responsible for making them vibrant, welcoming, and genuinely useful to members.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild and manage our Discord communities - creating channels, setting up bots, designing onboarding flows, and keeping conversations active\n\nHost community events like AMAs, journal clubs, voice chats, and Twitter/X Spaces\n\nCreate programming that keeps members engaged and coming back - whether that's highlighting member research, running workshops, or sparking discussions around hot topics\n\nConnect people - identify emerging voices, facilitate introductions, and help members find collaborators\n\nModerate discussions and maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment\n\nTrack community health metrics and experiment with new formats to drive engagement\n\nWho You Are\nYou have a Bachelor's or Master's in biology, biochemistry, biotech, or a related field\n\nYou're Discord-native - you've spent real time in communities, understand the culture, and ideally have moderated a server before\n\nYou're probably already active in online science communities (Twitter/X, Reddit, Discord, etc.) and genuinely enjoy connecting with people\n\nYou have strong writing skills - warm, accessible, and human (not corporate)\n\nYou're comfortable hopping on voice chats and hosting live events\n\nYou take initiative and aren't afraid to try things that might not work\n\nYou're organized enough to keep multiple channels, events, and initiatives running smoothly\n\nBonus Points\nExperience with Discord bots (MEE6, Carl-bot, or custom)\n\nYou run a science meme account, podcast, newsletter, or have built an online following\n\nFamiliarity with the biotech/life sciences landscape -
