Anesthesia Technicians perform duties under the direct supervision of a Licensed Anesthesia Provider and/or Registered Nurse (RN). The Anesthesia Technician adheres to AMC policies, standards and practice as well as departmental policy for the Anesthesia Department and assists with Anesthesia Delivery Systems; Equipment, Instrumentation, and Technology; Room turnover; Blood Salvage; and Infection Control.• Maintains inventory of machines/carts related to provision of anesthesia (including drug labels).Differentiates the capabilities, limitations, and special applications of anesthesia machines/carts.\nAnticipates the needs of Providers based on location (OR vs. Non-Operating Room Anesthesia).\nIdentifies power supplies, circuit breakers, and medical gas connectors for each machine.\nMaintains the stock of pyxis machines and drug boxes.\nComplies with Environmental Health and Safety policy regarding spilled anesthetic agents.\nCompletes the process for oxygen tank replacement.\nUtilizes knowledge of biotechnology and monitoring to prepare medical equipment and supplies based on patient need.\nIdentifies missing instrument/equipment and works with team to locate and retrieve missing items.\nAssembles invasive as well as non-invasive monitoring equipment.\nPrepares scopes and probes specific to patient care procedures (bronchoscopes, TEE probes, etc.).\nPerforms troubleshooting and emergency procedures in the event of equipment failure.\nApplies care and cleaning techniques specific to critical (sterile) vs. semi-critical (clean) items, utilizing\nmanufacturer’s instructions for use (IFUs).\nCollaborates with nursing staff on case/room turnover.\nPerforms routine room setup for each new case, ensuring availability and function of equipment/supplies\n(including emergency equipment) prior to start.\nPerforms room cleaning within the specified time frame.\nAdheres to infection control policies and sharps safety in all aspects of service delivery.\n• Practices according to hospital policy and within the limitations of unlicensed assistive care.\nThank you for your interest in Albany Med Health System!\nAlbany Med Health System is an equal opportunity employer.\nThis role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Med Health System, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.
