Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.\nLabcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in Holyoke, MA.\nWork Schedule: Monday - Friday (1p - 9:30p)\nJob Responsibilities\nProcess human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam\nPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens\nSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide\nPerform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections\nProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures\nProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens\nPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures\nReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care \nOperate and maintain manual and automated instruments\nPerform and document equipment maintenance as needed\nRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner\nPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures \nAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policies\nFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting\nDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed\nMinimum Qualifications\nAssociate’s degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 or more years of histology experience\nPreferred Qualifications\n3 months or more of histology experience\n3 months or more of Immunohistochemistry experience\nHistology and/or ASCP certifications\nAdditional Job Standards\nIn lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements\nComfortability embedding both large and small specimens\nUnderstanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures\nExperience working in a high volume laboratory environment\nAbility to work independently and within a team environment\nProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems\nHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills\nAbility to handle the physical requirements of the position\nAble to pass a standardized color blindness test\nFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs\nAt Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
