Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.\nLabCorp is seeking a Lab Manager to join our team in Portland, OR\n\nWork Schedule: Monday Friday 9:00am-5:00PM\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nDirect oversight of the daily operational activities of the Emanuel Medical Center Laboratory; both the technical and non-technical operations\nEffectively manage the staffing of the department and monitor the production schedule to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime, and adjust as needed \nDirectly supervisor, train, and mentor supervisors along with responsibility for all departmental staff\nEnsure the diagnostics laboratory provides market leading service levels, meeting the needs of our clients and corporate service metrics established for TAT\nResolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with the Medical Director, Technical Director, QA, managers, discipline directors, laboratory directors or corporate operations\nEnsure laboratory is compliant with corporate, state and federal regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, State, ISO, etc) related to personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing as well as professional conduct \nAssist with developing and implementing laboratory procedures and installation of equipment and methods \nManage staff including hiring qualified employees, performance management, training and development\nEnsure effective communication with leadership, clients, sales, corporate operations and all departmental staff \nConduct departmental meetings and ensure appropriate departmental communication\nInvestigate deviations from established procedures to ensure effective corrective action \nMaintain technical knowledge in the assigned department(s) for the laboratory testing\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology\n5 years of experience as a Technologist in a clinical diagnostics laboratory \n2 years or more supervisory or leadership experience\nASCP certification\n\nPreferred Qualification:\nCurrent or prior Labcorp experience\n5 years or more of previous experience managing people leaders \n\nAdditional Job Standards\n\nPrior supervisor experience managing several direct reports\nStrong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations\nExperience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment\nUnderstanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures\nProven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees\nProficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office\nAbility to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision\nStrong communication skills; both written and verbal\nHigh level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills \nComfortability making decisions in a changing environment\nAbility to handle the physical requirements of the position\nAble to pass a standardized color blindness test\nBenefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
