The role serves as a strategic communications partner to senior leaders and cross-functional teams, translating corporate, brand, pipeline, and therapeutic-area priorities into clear and compelling communications. The role leads media relations, disease-awareness initiatives, corporate digital content, and communications for major milestones and issues including communication with BIR and Biogen Global HQs. It also manages agencies, budgets, governance, and communications readiness while aligning Japan activities with regional and global Corporate Affairs priorities.\nKey Responsibilities：\nCorporate and Strategic Communications\nDevelop and execute integrated communications strategies that protect and enhance Biogen Japan’s reputation and support affiliate, brand, pipeline, and therapeutic-area priorities. Represent Biogen Japan in relevant industry association communications and corporate affairs forums, in alignment with the Head of Corporate Affairs.\nInternal and Leadership Communications\nLead employee and leadership communications, including town halls, engagement programs, internal platforms, and executive messaging that align employees around company priorities.Promote the visibility of Biogen Japan across regional and global internal channels by proactively sharing relevant Japan achievements, initiatives, and employee stories.\nExternal Communications and Media Relations\nLead media strategy, journalist engagement, disease-awareness initiatives, corporate digital content, and communications for key milestones, including submissions, approvals, launches, and major data presentations.\nCorporate Social Impact and Employee Volunteering\nDevelop and execute corporate social impact and employee volunteering initiatives that strengthen Biogen Japan’s contribution to local communities, employee engagement, and corporate reputation.Coordinate Japan’s participation in relevant global Caring Deeply programs and communicate the impact of these initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.\nGovernance, Issues Readiness and Resource Management\nProvide communications counsel, manage agencies and budgets, ensure compliant review and channel use, and coordinate issues and reputation-risk readiness with relevant stakeholders.\nMinimum Experience Requirements：\nAt least 7 years of relevant communications or corporate affairs experience, including experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a communications/PR agency.\nDemonstrated experience leading media relations, external and internal communications, and strategic cross-functional projects such as disease awareness campaigns.\nExperience advising senior leaders and managing agencies, budgets, and complex communications issues.\nPharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, product launch, pipeline, or disease-awareness experience preferred.\nProfessional-level Japanese and business-level English required.\nKnowledge & Skills Requirements：\nStrong strategic communications, storytelling, writing, editing, and presentation capabilities in Japanese and English.\n Ability to provide sound counsel to senior leaders and translate complex business and scientific information for diverse audiences.\nStrong media relations, stakeholder management, digital communications, project, budget, and agency-management skills.\nAbility to lead through influence in a matrix and exercise sound judgment on reputation, compliance, confidentiality, and issues management.\nMinimum Education Requirements：\nBachelor’s degree required.\nDegree in communications, journalism, public relations, business, life sciences, or a related field preferred.\nJob Level: ManagementWhy Biogen?\nWe are a global team with a commitment to excellence, and a pioneering spirit.
