We work with our clients to design and deliver scalable, cloud-native data platforms that enable advanced analytics, AI, and data-driven decision making.\nRole Purpose\nAs a Cloud Data Architect (Manager), you will lead the design and delivery of modern data platforms across hybrid and cloud environments. You will shape architecture decisions, guide delivery teams, and partner closely with clients to ensure data platforms are secure, scalable, and fit for future AI and analytics use cases.\nYou will play a key role in leading engagements end-to-end, mentoring architects and engineers, and contributing to the evolution of BIP xTech’s data architecture capability.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the architecture, design, and delivery of modern data platforms across on-premises and cloud environments (primarily Azure and AWS).\nOwn architecture decisions, selecting appropriate patterns, technologies, and services aligned to client needs and best practice.\nTranslate business and analytical requirements into clear, robust architecture designs, supported by diagrams, documentation, and standards.\nLead delivery across engagements, including work planning, governance, RAID management, milestones, dependencies, and stakeholder management.\nManage, mentor, and develop architects and engineers, fostering high-quality delivery and consistent standards.\nDesign and oversee batch and streaming data pipelines to support analytical and operational use cases.\nWork closely with clients, vendors, and partners to ensure solutions align with business objectives, security, and governance requirements.\nContribute to the development of reusable architecture assets, reference designs, and standards within BIP xTech.\nExperience & Capability\n5+ years’ experience designing and architecting cloud-based data platforms for analytics and AI use cases.\nProven experience leading end-to-end delivery of data platform programmes, including architecture governance and stakeholder management.\nStrong expertise in modern data architecture concepts: data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouse, data mesh, data governance, security, and quality.\nHands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS native services for data storage, processing, orchestration, analytics, and AI enablement.\nDemonstrated ability to architect scalable batch and streaming pipelines using ETL/ELT patterns.\nProficiency in one or more programming or query languages (e.g. SQL, Python, Java, R).\nExperience managing architecture quality processes, such as design authorities or architecture review boards.\nStrong client-facing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders.\nDesirable\nExperience creating reusable architecture assets across multiple engagements or within a centre of excellence.\nExposure to platform operations and enablement, including observability, cost management, deployment standards, and runbooks.\nExperience working in highly regulated environments.\nAzure and/or AWS certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Data Engineer).\nEligibility for, or existing, UK Security Clearance (BPSS/SC/DV).\nWorking at BIP\nHybrid working, with regular time in a BIP office and at client sites as
