Interns conduct research, support project analysts and staff, and see firsthand how people from both parties work together on policy. The program also offers exposure to the policymaking process and the functions of a think tank, plus professional development and networking with BPC staff and interns across DC.\nSpring interns work 18 to 20 hours per week and receive a $3,000 stipend, paid in two equal installments during the internship. Interns set a weekly schedule with their intern manager at the start of the semester and can adjust it around class commitments.\nBPC’s internships are based in our Washington, DC office. BPC staff are in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Monday and Friday. Relocation assistance is not provided.\nThe Spring 2027 internship program runs Tuesday, January 26, 2027, through Thursday, April 1, 2027.\nProject Description:\nBPC's Economic Policy Program (EPP) develops bipartisan policy recommendations designed to enhance the economic opportunity, prosperity, and security of the American people. EPP continues to be a trusted leader in the analysis of federal fiscal policy, encompassing the areas of debt, tax reform, sequestration, the federal budget process, and retirement and financial security.\nEPP’s is known for its analysis of the federal debt limit, a project that was initially led by now Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell during his time as a Fellow at BPC. Subsequent analyses have long been widely cited both in the media and directly by policymakers.\nOur team also provides research, analysis, and commentary on the major fiscal and budget debates occurring at any given time in Washington, from the implementation of the Fiscal Responsibility Act’s spending caps to the risks and harms of government shutdowns to the future trajectory of U.S. government finances.\nEPP’s tax portfolio seeks bipartisan reform that will create opportunities for businesses of all sizes, support workers and families, and improve our nation’s fiscal outlook in the years to come. We are especially focused on opportunities for fiscally responsible tax reform.\nOur work on retirement security focuses on policies that expand access to well-designed retirement savings vehicles, help Americans preserve their retirement income, and resolve Social Security’s structural imbalance to avoid harmful and abrupt benefit cuts when the program’s trust fund is depleted.\nWe continue to play a prominent role in informing and promoting legislative progress on private-sector savings, working to advance reforms that help Americans create financial security through emergency savings accounts, savings for retirement, and other government assistance to promote economic growth and security.\nIn 2022, EPP acquired and relaunched the American Savings Education Council (ASEC), a unique cross-sector public-private partnership originally formed in 1994 by the U.S. Department of Labor and Employee Benefit Research Institute.\nResponsibilities:\nThe intern will be working closely with all the policy experts across our team, reporting to the program manager. Responsibilities will vary day-to-day, but may include:\nSupport long-term policy projects and papers by conducting background research and writing\nDraft blog posts and assist staff in preparing responses to Hill and media requests\nMonitoring major congressional activity, analyzing budget documents\nTake notes at Congressional hearings and external events\nEvent planning, program management, and administrative tasks\nEligibility:\nUndergraduate students at the rising junior level or above, currently enrolled graduate students, or graduates within the past 12 months\nNon-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply but must have a valid work permit or visa verifying eligibility to work in the United States. BPC does not offer visa sponsorship.\nQualifications:\nMust be an enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate school or be a recent graduate\nStrong research and writing skills\nAbility to communicate clearly and effectively\nAn interest in fiscal and economic policy topics, such as tax policy, retirement savings, and federal budget policy\nStrong research and data analysis skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Suite preferred\nApplication Process:\nApplications are reviewed on a rolling basis until a qualified candidate has been identified.\nSend a separate application for each internship of interest, and do not submit more than once to the same posting.\nIncomplete applications will not be considered.\nNo phone calls, please.\nRequired Materials (if possible, please submit as one PDF file):\nResume\nCover letter\nWriting sample, three to five pages\nCollege or university transcript (unofficial is acceptable)\nBrief response to the question “What does bipartisanship mean to you?” (five to eight sentences)\nTo celebrate diversity and ensure equity and inclusivity, BPC is committed to:\nRecruiting and retaining a diverse workforce with insights and solutions for our increasingly divided society\nCreating a workplace culture where all employees feel valued and their perspectives are heard\nDeveloping policy solutions and undertaking research that reflect a diversity of thought and experience\nThese commitments help us fulfill our mission and foster bipartisanship more effectively.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5430,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Professional development","Relocation assistance"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Think Tanks & Policy Research"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-28T05:44:01Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":29,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.52,"p_room":0.55,"age_days":21,"expected_fill_days":15,"reasons":["conf:1","win:tail","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-19T05:45:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/bipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/bipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-19T06:48:10Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4304,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-20T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":723209},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=723209"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fbipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fbipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fbipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/bipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fbipartisan-policy-center-economic-policy-program-fall-internship"}]}
