This role provides exposure to all QA disciplines and establishes fundamental skills in inspection, documentation, traceability, and quality system compliance within a regulated manufacturing and shipbuilding environment.\n.\nThis is a hands-on position that requires close and effective working relationship with manufacturing, engineering, assembly & test, project management, administration, purchasing and warehousing.\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nReceive, review, and verify incoming materials, parts, and components against purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements; accurately enter inspection results and related information into the ERP system to support traceability and inventory control.\nPerform dimensional and mechanical inspections on components, assemblies, and finished products using appropriate inspection tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring devices; confirm compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.\nMaintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, material certifications, and traceability records; ensure documentation is complete, organized, and available to support internal processes, customer requirements, and regulatory or contract compliance.\nIdentify, document, and communicate suspected nonconforming materials, parts, or processes; support containment activities, assist with nonconformance reporting, and work with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to help resolve quality issues.\nSupport internal audits, process checks, and Quality Management System activities by following established procedures, collecting objective evidence, and helping ensure compliance with company, customer, and applicable quality standards.\nCollaborate effectively with manufacturing, engineering, assembly and test, project management, purchasing, warehousing, and administrative teams; maintain a clean and safe work area, follow company safety and quality procedures, and perform other related duties as assigned.\nQualifications / Skills / Experience\nHigh school diploma or GED\nMechanical aptitude preferred\nAbility to read basic drawings (training provided)\nStrong attention to detail\nBasic computer skills\nWorking Conditions\nManufacturing and shipyard environment\nExposure to noise, dust, temperature variation\nPhysical activity including lifting, standing, climbing, confined spaces\nBirdon offers a full benefits package including:\nHealth/Dental/Vision\nEAP/Life\nSTD/LTD\n401(k) with company match (pre- and post-tax options)\nVacation/Sick accrual and holiday pay\nTuition reimbursement program\nEmployee referral program\nPet Insurance\nBirdon is committed to the HEALTH and SAFETY of our workforce and to the ENVIRONMENT we expect this same commitment from all employees. \nAs a Federal Contractor, Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background and drug screening, conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.\n\nBirdon America Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
