About the internship
Bitdefender protects people and businesses in more than 170 countries. Behind that sits a lot of design work: how people get started, how they use the product day to day, and how they get help when something goes wrong.
The UX/UI Design team works next to Product, Engineering, and Marketing. You'll join the design team for 4 months and work on real products.
You'll see how product design actually works: a problem arrives with constraints attached, you design inside them, the work gets built, and then it meets millions of people.
There's the possibility to stay on the team after the internship. That's what we're hoping for when we take someone on.
You bring curiosity and drive. We bring mentorship, tools, and a mission that matters.
What you'll do
- Map an existing flow and mark where people get stuck, confused, or drop off
- Sketch wireframes for a real problem, and show more than one way to solve it
- Design screens and their states in Figma using our design system
- Pair with our UX writer on the wording in your screens
- Build clickable prototypes for user testing and for internal review
- Show your work in design critiques, then improve it based on the feedback
- Run design QA on built features and log where the build drifts from the design
What we're looking for
- You understand the basics of a UX process
- You want to design real products, with the deadlines and limits that come with them
- UI fundamentals: layout, spacing, hierarchy, type, color, states
- Working knowledge of Figma, including components and auto layout
- A portfolio with 2 or 3 projects. School or personal work is fine. We care more about your process than your final screens.
- You can explain a decision out loud and say why you rejected the alternatives
- You ask questions when something isn't clear
- You take feedback as information, not as a verdict
- Comfortable working in English with the team
Student, recent graduate, or switching into design from another field. All three are welcome. No prior work experience needed.
Nice to have
- Some exposure to accessibility basics and WCAG
- A sense of how designs get built: components, breakpoints, handoff
- Motion or prototyping beyond static screens
- Basic comfort with data, like reading survey results or usage numbers
- Any extra skill that might surprise us, like writing, teaching, illustration, or coding
None of these are requirements. Missing all of them costs you nothing.
What you'll get
- Paid internship. Details shared during the interview process.
- A mentor from the design team for the whole 4 months
- Feedback on your work, plus design critiques with the wider team
- Real products to work on
- Hybrid setup, with home and office days built into the week
- Time off, in proportion to the 4 months
- A way onto the team. The possibility to stay after the internship, and that's what we're hoping for.
