Federal agencies, oversight offices, and the public rely on these systems, which must stay available 24/7/365 while a modern replacement is built alongside them.\nYou will keep the existing Oracle database secure, performant, and reliable, and you will lead the move of decades of regulatory data to the new platform. That means mapping legacy data to new models, validating and reconciling every migration, and preserving the historical records, identifiers, and public references that agencies and the public depend on. Priorities shift as the work evolves, so we're looking for someone equally comfortable administering a production database and planning a careful, well-tested migration.\nYou will work closely with engineers, a security lead, and client technical stakeholders, and you will help shape decisions about how data is structured, protected, and retained on the new platform.\nThis is a full-time position on an awarded contract with a 12-month base period and two 12-month option periods. In the spirit of transparency, most offers tend to land near the midpoint of the range. Fairness and transparency are core to how we operate.\nResponsibilities:\nAdminister, monitor, and tune the production Oracle Enterprise database, ensuring availability, performance, and integrity across all environments.\n\nManage backups, recovery, patching, upgrades, and capacity planning, and support continuity of operations and disaster recovery testing.\n\nImplement and maintain database security controls, including access management, auditing, and encryption, and remediate database vulnerabilities within contractual timelines.\n\nSupport defect resolution, performance troubleshooting, and data requests that involve the database.\n\nDevelop and maintain the Data Migration Plan for moving legacy data to the new platform.\n\nMap legacy data structures to new target data models, documenting transformations, assumptions, and data quality issues.\n\nBuild, test, and run repeatable migration and ETL processes, including validation and reconciliation against source systems.\n\nPlan migration timing, rollback procedures, and acceptance criteria for each release.\n\nPreserve historical records, legacy identifiers, and public references, and support archive or read-only access to historical data where needed.\n\nContribute to data model design, indexing, and query optimization for the new platform.\n\nSupport integration, decommissioning, and records retention planning as legacy capabilities are retired.\n\nMaintain database documentation, data dictionaries, and runbooks.\n\nParticipate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimation, reviews, and retrospectives.\n\nOther relevant duties as assigned and qualified/trained to perform.\n\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.\n\nAt least 5 years of experience as a database administrator or database engineer supporting production systems.\n\nHands-on Oracle Enterprise database administration experience, including backup and recovery, patching, performance tuning, and security configuration.\n\nStrong SQL and PL/SQL skills.\n\nExperience leading or executing large-scale data migrations from a legacy database to a new platform, including data mapping, validation, and reconciliation.\n\nExperience with data modeling and designing schemas for new applications.\n\nExperience with ETL or data migration tooling and scripting (such as Python, shell, or similar).\n\nExperience working in Linux server environments (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred).\n\nClear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical decisions and explain data issues to non-technical stakeholders.\n\nThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination in support of a federal government contract.\n\nNice to Have Skills and Experience:\nOracle certification (such as Oracle Certified Professional).\n\nExperience with PostgreSQL or cloud-managed database services (such as Amazon RDS or Aurora).\n\nExperience delivering for federal government clients, including systems operating under FISMA Moderate controls.\n\nFamiliarity with federal records management and retention requirements (NARA).\n\nExperience with reporting tools such as JasperReports or Crystal Reports.\n\nExperience migrating document-heavy or regulatory data while preserving historical records and public references.\n\nExperience with Agile/Scrum delivery.\n\nHow We Support Our Team:\nFlex hours\n\n401K with matching incentive\n\nParental Leave\n\nMedical/dental/vision benefits\n\nFlex Spending Account\n\nCompany provided short-term disability and life insurance\n\nCommuter benefits\n\nPaid Time Off (PTO)\n\n11 Paid holidays\n\nOur company is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all individuals and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws.
