We're seeking a Project Engineer with civil traffic and transportation design experience to support the delivery of roadway, highway, and multimodal infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced project managers and multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to all phases of project delivery - from planning and design through construction support - while continuing to grow your technical expertise and advance your career. Based in San Jose, with hybrid or remote opportunities from our Redwood City or Pleasanton offices for the right candidate.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and coordination of transportation infrastructure projects including roadways, corridors, roundabouts, curbs, retaining walls, overpasses, transit facilities, and ADA curb ramps\nDesign and coordination of traffic engineering projects including signal design, pavement marking/striping, signage, and multimodal corridor improvements\nPreparation of geometric design plans and profiles in compliance with Caltrans, local, and regional standards\nDevelopment of grading, drainage, and stormwater management plans for transportation corridors\nDesign of transportation-related utility systems and coordination with public agencies and utility providers\nDevelopment of quantity takeoffs and cost estimates\nIntegration of multimodal and sustainable design elements such as complete streets, green infrastructure, and ADA compliance\nApply Federal, State (e.g. Caltrans), City, and County codes\nPreparation of conceptual design studies and alternatives analyses for roadway and multimodal improvements\nRequirements\n3+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering, with a focus on the design and development of roadway systems, multimodal corridors, roundabouts, curbs, signal design, signing/striping, traffic control, transit facilities, etc.\nB.S. in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program\nMust be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D\nExperience wth SignCAD, AGI 32, or Synchro/Simtraffic is highly desirable\nEIT certification is highly preferred\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners, including public agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders\nOccasional travel required between BKF offices and client site\nPhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.\nWork Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.\nBenefits\nThe typical base salary range for this position is $99,000.00 - $135,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
