In alignment with Brooklyn LAB’s commitment to college persistence and opportunity for historically underserved students, this role creates a structured, engaging classroom environment where adolescents are challenged academically, supported socially and emotionally, and held to consistently high expectations. A BK Lab teacher designs thoughtful lessons, uses data to inform instruction, and provides timely, actionable feedback to ensure student growth and mastery of content.\nBeyond academics, a Brooklyn LAB teacher is committed to students’ holistic development. They mentor, advocate, and guide students through challenges, helping them navigate opportunities and obstacles both in school and in their broader lives. Through strong relationships with students and families, collaboration with colleagues, and reinforcement of school-wide systems and norms, they contribute to a safe, inclusive, and achievement-oriented community where all students are empowered to thrive beyond high school.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nProvide instruction utilizing rigorous lessons aligned with the Common Core.\nCommit to internalizing the provided curriculum to prepare every student for high school graduation and success in a four-year college or university\nFacilitate student learning and differentiation, and embody our ‘inclusion for all’ model by utilizing differentiation and small group instruction to get results \nUtilize formative and summative assessments to inform and improve instruction.\nLead and own the results of advisories that target the social-emotional needs of our scholars\nQUALIFICATIONS\nDeliver direct, specially designed instruction to scholars in accordance with their IEP-mandated services, including individual and small-group instruction.\nProvide targeted academic support in literacy, mathematics, and other identified areas of need.\nDevelop and implement differentiated lessons aligned to grade-level standards, IEP goals, and individual scholar learning profiles.\nUtilize evidence-based interventions to address foundational skill gaps while maintaining access to grade-level content.\nImplement explicit instruction, scaffolding, accommodations, and instructional modifications as appropriate.\nSupport scholars in developing self-advocacy, organizational, and independent learning skills.\nEnsure that all assigned SETSS services are delivered in accordance with scholars' IEPs and applicable federal and New York State special education regulations.\nMaintain accurate, timely documentation of service delivery, including attendance, instructional focus, and progress toward IEP goals.\nMonitor and document scholar progress toward measurable annual IEP goals.\nWhenever possible, LAB seeks to hire teachers certified in Special Education and/or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, in addition to the specific subject they will teach, to provide additional support to students with special needs and/or limited English proficiency.\nCOMPENSATION\nThe salary range for this position is $67,000 - $104,000, commensurate with experience and education.
