We’re searching for an experienced Data Center Construction Manager who thrives on largescale, complex projects and knows how to lead field teams to deliver flawless structured cabling and low voltage installations.\nThis is a senior, onsite leadership role where you'll take full ownership of construction execution-from day one planning through commissioning and closeout-ensuring projects are safe, on schedule, fully compliant, and built to the high standards Black Box is known for.\nIf you’re a detail driven leader with deep technical expertise in fiber and structured cabling systems-and the ability to guide large field teams to operational excellence-you’ll feel at home here.\nWhat You’ll Lead\nOwn Safety as Priority #1\nModel and enforce Black Box’s Accident-Free Everyday safety culture.\n\nLead jobsite safety standards, compliance, and continuous improvement.\n\nSupport incident investigations, RCAs, and data driven lessons learned.\n\nDirect Data Center Construction Operations\nDrive the development and implementation of project plans, installation strategies, and site logistics.\n\nMaintain and manage 5 weeklookahead schedules, labor forecasts, and daily progress tracking.\n\nCoordinate with Project Management and Procurement to ensure timely delivery and staging of materials.\n\nOversee daily field operations to meet or exceed production goals, budget, and schedule milestones.\n\nEnsure Technical Excellence & Standards Compliance\nServe as the senior SME for data center low voltage, structured cabling, and fiber installations.\n\nGuarantee compliance with ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEBS, and all customer specifications.\n\nLead testing and commissioning activities including OTDR, power meter validation, labeling standards, and quality assurance protocols.\n\nIdentify design gaps, field conflicts, or changes; drive RFIs, clarifications, and scope adjustments.\n\nLead, Mentor & Develop Field Teams\nManage large (100+) field technician teams-union or nonunion.\n\nConduct hiring, training, performance evaluations, and career development for onsite personnel.\n\nProvide technical coaching and mentorship to accelerate crew capabilities and elevate work quality.\n\nFoster a culture grounded in safety, collaboration, accountability, and craftsmanship.\n\nBe the Customer’s Trusted Onsite Partner\nAct as the main construction operations liaison for the client.\n\nParticipate in customer meetings, site walks, technical discussions, and milestone reviews.\n\nProactively address challenges around workflow, delays, installation issues, or tactical execution.\n\nWhat You Need to Succeed\nLeadership & People Skills\nProven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor diverse field teams.\n\nSkilled in conflict resolution, workforce planning, and managing competing priorities.\n\nExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.\n\nTechnical Expertise\nStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and best in class safety practices.\nMastery of low voltage, fiber, and structured cabling installation for mission critical environments.\n\nAdvanced capability in commissioning, system validation, and telecom quality control processes.\n\nAbility to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.\n\nExperience identifying design discrepancies and managing technical change control.\n\nOperational & Digital Skills\nAbility to build and manage work activity sequencing and project phasing plans.\n\nStrong computer skills: MS Office, Bluebeam, and construction management platforms.\n\nAbility to quickly learn new construction technologies and workflow tools.\n\nWhat You Bring\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\n\n3-5+ years of supervisory experience on largescale structured cabling or data center construction projects.\n\nExperience managing large, dispersed field teams (100+).\n\nData center new build or retrofit experience strongly preferred.\n\nExperience working with union telecom crews and labor compliance preferred.\n\nPreferred certifications:\n\nOSHA30 (or ability to obtain within 6 months)\n\nBICSI Technician (TECH)\n\nBICSI RCDD\n\nPosition Details\n\nDaily onsite presence required.\n\nUp to 15% travel depending on project needs.\n\nDirect supervision responsibilities included.\n\nWhy Black Box?\nBlack Box is a leading global technology solutions provider with 2,500+ team members across 24 countries.
