Under the supervision of Project Management, the Project Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of pre-work and post work submittal packages, processing, validating and compiling cable test reports, drafting and processing RFIs, preparing change order requests, verifying field conditions against design documents, ensuring working sets of drawings and specifications are kept up-to-date, maintaining redline / as-built drawing sets and keeping project records\nappropriately filed. The most critical responsibility of this key role is communication. The Project Engineer must ensure that the entirety of the extended Project Team is always up to date.\nWhat You Will Do:\nSafety is our Priority. Follow Safe Work Practices that conform with the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies ensuring that every person on the team Stays Accident Free Every-day.\nPromote company Core Values to foster and safeguard Company culture.\nParticipates in the RFP processes, completing a detailed review of plans, specifications, and entirety of bid package.\nProvide close support to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.\nEvaluate and continually suggest improvements to processes used by Project Delivery Teams to effectively meet customer requirements and expectations.\nManage, mentor, and develop colleagues.\nInteract with the customer to validate our understanding of expectations before, during, and after project completion.\nAid in providing close support and oversight for our subcontractors.\nLeads field validation of telecom design, proactively identifying conflicts or gaps and collaborating with CM, PM, and customer for resolution thru the RFI process.\nManage project review process with particular emphasis on constructability, value engineering options and design discrepancies / clashes.\nOwns the implementation and oversight of electronic tracking systems and custom dashboards to drive real-time visibility into task progress, crew productivity, and issue resolution. \nDaily/weekly reporting, issue escalation, and coordination with project managers and general contractors.\nProactively and systematically communicate challenges, risks, and successes.\nCoordination with Project Superintendent(s) to understand and assess installation methods, labor needs, and manpower forecasts.\nSupport QA/QC by ensuring adherence to the Quality Control plans and process.\nEnsure that all downstream team members are meeting deadlines on assigned tasks.\nReviews contracts, work orders and purchase orders to fully understand contractual requirements and provisions, and to ensure scope of work is in alignment with associated estimate and respective contract documents.\nCultivate and maintain customer relationships.\nWork with the field operations team to ensure proper materials and equipment are available.\nCoordinates with customer for acceptance and signoff.\nDemonstrates ownership of the change management process-actively identifies scope impacts, initiates timely communication with stakeholders, and drives resolution to maintain schedule and project alignment.\nPartners closely with QA/QC teams. Regularly reviews and validates test results (OTDR, Power Meter, etc.)\nMaintains up to date redlines throughout the build lifecycle\nLeads the preparation of closeout documentation, ensuring timely, organized, and customer-ready submittals.\nNeeds for Success:\nMust be proficient and well-practiced in leveraging information and data in making informed decisions.\nExtensive knowledge of Safety protocols, processes and procedures.\nDeep understanding of industry specific estimating and engineering best practices.\nAbility to identify change events.\nKnowledge of various construction technology platforms, quality, and safety standards.\nAbility to understand and develop project schedules.\nDemonstrated professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.\nAbility to work under time constraints and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.\nStrong oral and written communication and organizational skills, including excellent customer service skills.\nDisciplined, detail oriented, organized, and self-driven.\nDemonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.\nStrong leadership presence with the ability to mentor junior field staff, lead site walks, and represent the telecom discipline in cross functional meetings.\nAbility to manage multiple stakeholders and influence without direct authority.\nProficient in using a computer and business / industry applications - Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, \nPowerPoint, Visio, etc.), Bluebeam, Procore, Textura and others.\nWhat You Bring to the Table:\nBachelor’s Degree Construction Management, Engineering or other related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.\nMinimum of 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role. Experience with large structured cabling projects and/or data center construction projects highly preferred.Preferred professional certifications:\n\nOSHA-30 Hour certification (if not certified at time of hire, certifications must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment)\nBICSI TECH\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nThis position will not have direct reports.\nWork Location and Travel:\nOn project site daily with up to 15% travel\nNote: This job description outlines the general nature of the responsibilities and duties executed by this position.
