You'll have the opportunity to participate in architectural discussions, contribute to modern software solutions, and help improve the scalability, reliability, and performance of our platform.\nThe ideal candidate is an engineer with a strong technical foundation who is ready to take on increasingly complex challenges while continuing to grow their technical expertise and influence within the team.\nThis position is based in Calgary, AB and is in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services that support LodgeLink's platform and business objectives.\nCollaborate with software engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.\nParticipate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leaders.\nApply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nContribute to the development and evolution of cloud-native solutions and distributed systems.\nWork within Agile development practices, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement activities.\nIdentify and help address technical debt while balancing short-term delivery and long-term platform health.\nSupport the deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of applications in production environments.\nContribute to improving engineering processes, tooling, and development standards.\nShare knowledge, learn from teammates, and actively contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.\nQualifications\n 3 + years of software development experience building and supporting software applications in a professional environment.\nExperienced with frontend development with React and building backend microservices and APIs.\nDemonstrated ability to learn new technologies and frameworks quickly, with a solid foundation in software engineering principles.\nSolid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and software engineering best practices.\nWorking knowledge of SOLID principles, software architecture concepts, clean code practices, and maintainable application design.\nExperience developing and consuming APIs and an understanding of API-first development approaches.\nFamiliarity with modern backend technologies and patterns such as Go, gRPC, REST APIs or equivalent technologies.
