This is a role that will be interesting and dynamic as tasks and responsibilities tend to adapt week to week. Black and McDonald are part of the IBEW Local 424 Electrical Union. We offer top wages in the industry.\nDuties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:\nInstall electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, and raceways\nInstall lighting systems, switches, receptacles, and circuit breakers\nAssist with the install distribution equipment: Panels, transformers and switch gear\nAssist with the installation of underground service equipment and “ground” grid for utility transformers\nInstall fire alarm and building management systems\nRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings\nTest electrical components and equipment to ensure proper operation\nAssist with repairs faulty circuits, motors, lighting systems, and controls\nEnsure repairs comply with electrical codes and safety standards\nManage electrical materials and equipment as assigned\nCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS\nChange Orientation (open to change and the ability to identify where it is needed and how to make it happen)\nCommunicates Effectively (verbally and in writing)\nContinuous Learning (ongoing effort to learn and contribute to the learnings of others)\nCustomer Focus (understands the needs and perspectives of both internal and external customers)\nHolds Self and Others Accountable (takes personal responsibility to meet commitments)\nProblem Solving and Innovation (ability to approach problems logically and seek innovative solutions)\nTeamwork and Collaboration (works cooperatively and collaboratively with others)\nValues and Respects Others (encourages and supports diversity)\nEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS\nHigh school diploma or equivalent (required)\nValid Electrical Apprenticeship through A.I.T. (Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training)\nAdditional industry-related training, technical courses, or certifications relevant to electrical service and installation are considered an asset\nWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum of 2-3 years of experience in electrical installation preferably within commercial or institutional environments\nExperience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications considered an asset\nDemonstrated experience performing quality inspections and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications\nSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS\nStrong electrical aptitude and technical ability\nProficiency in using hand tools, power tools, conduit benders (hand and electrical/mechanical), and measuring instruments\nDemonstrates strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve installation issues\nDemonstrates sound judgment and a proactive approach to workplace safety\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team\nExhibits strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities\nAdaptable and flexible in responding to changing project requirements and work environments\nAbility to accurately measure\nStrong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills\nAbility to interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and building codes effectively\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently under deadlines\nCommitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all health and safety regulations\nPhysically capable of lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, and working at heights in various weather and job-site conditions\nValid driver's license and reliable transportation will be required\nAbility to obtain and maintain required site-specific security clearances and safety certifications\nApplicants must be eligible and willing to join Local Union 424 upon employment\nPlease note that our Edmonton office will be relocating to Acheson, AB before the end of the year.\nAll applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.\nBlack & McDonald welcomes and encourages applications from people with accessibility accommodation requirements.
