This position provides leadership and direction for all aspects of project delivery, including safety, engineering coordination, procurement, construction management, financial performance, scheduling, quality assurance, customer relations, and risk management.\nThe Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for utility customers, engineering firms, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. The role is accountable for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.\nProjects may include greenfield and brownfield substations, station expansions, rebuilds, breaker replacements, transformer installations, protection and control upgrades, transmission interconnections, and utility infrastructure projects ranging from distribution voltage through EHV systems.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nProject Leadership\nLead EPC substation projects from conceptual development through commissioning and turnover.\nDevelop and maintain comprehensive project execution plans.\nEstablish project objectives, budgets, schedules, and performance metrics.\nCoordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.\nProvide leadership to Project Engineers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, Schedulers, and Project Controls personnel.\nFoster a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.\nSafety Management\nEnsure compliance with company safety policies and client-specific safety requirements.\nPromote a Zero Incident culture throughout project execution.\nParticipate in safety planning, audits, observations, and incident investigations.\nReview and approve site-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).\nMonitor safety performance metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary.\nFinancial Management\nMaintain overall responsibility for project profitability and financial performance.\nDevelop project budgets and forecasts.\nMonitor labor productivity, equipment utilization, subcontractor performance, and project costs.\nReview and approve invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor pay applications.\nManage cash flow and working capital requirements.\nIdentify and pursue change order opportunities and contract modifications.\nTrack earned value, productivity, and forecasting metrics.\nSchedule Management\nDevelop and maintain integrated project schedules.\nCoordinate engineering deliverables, procurement milestones, outage schedules, and construction activities.\nIdentify schedule risks and implement mitigation strategies.\nMonitor schedule performance and provide recovery plans when required.\nCoordinate client outages, switching windows, and commissioning activities.\n· Create resource-loaded schedules and perform resource leveling utilizing Critical Path Methodology (CPM).\nContract Administration\nManage project contractual obligations and deliverables.\nReview contract documents, scope requirements, and commercial terms.\nAdminister owner contracts, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.\nPrepare notices, claims, schedule updates, and change order documentation.\nEnsure compliance with contract requirements and company governance procedures.\nEngineering & Procurement Coordination\nCoordinate engineering deliverables with internal and external design teams.\nReview drawings, specifications, and construction packages for constructability.\nMonitor procurement activities for critical equipment including:\nPower transformers\nCircuit breakers\nDisconnect switches\nProtection and control panels\nRelay systems\nSteel structures\nControl buildings\nTelecommunications equipment\n\nManage vendor relationships and equipment delivery schedules.\nConstruction Oversight\nSupport field operations and construction management teams.\nEnsure work is performed according to design specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.\nCoordinate site logistics, outage planning, material deliveries, and subcontractor activities.\nParticipate in site visits, progress meetings, and executive reviews.\nResolve field issues and support operational decision-making.\nQuality Management\nEnsure compliance with project quality plans and inspection requirements.\nMonitor testing, commissioning, and turnover documentation.\nVerify completion of punch lists and closeout activities.\nEnsure all project documentation is properly maintained and archived.\nRisk Management\nIdentify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks.\nMaintain project risk registers.\nDevelop contingency and recovery plans.\nAddress commercial, technical, schedule, and resource risks.\nEscalate critical issues to executive leadership as appropriate.\nCustomer Relationship Management\nServe as the primary customer interface throughout project execution.\nDevelop and maintain strong client relationships.\nLead progress meetings and executive reviews.\nEnsure transparency in project reporting and communication.\nConsistently deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.\nReporting and Communication\nPrepare weekly and monthly project status reports.\nCommunicate:\nSafety customers.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred.\nEquivalent utility EPC experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.\nExperience\nMinimum 7-10 years of project management experience in utility infrastructure construction.\nMinimum 5 years of experience managing EPC substation projects.\nDemonstrated success delivering electrical utility projects with values ranging from $5M to $100M+.\nExperience with both greenfield and brownfield substation environments.\nExperience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction), engineering, utility, energy, industrial, or construction environment.\nProfessional certifications such as:\nProject Management Professional (PMP)\nCertified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)\nPMI Scheduling
