With over 100 years of diverse market experience, we are a forward-thinking organization with a strong track record of delivering operational excellence and customer-focused solutions that stand the test of time.\nABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY\nReporting to the Regional Vice President, Maritimes, the Estimating Department Manager (EDM) is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and preparation of all estimates for a full range of projects in the industrial, commercial, government, utility, and institutional sectors within their operating region.\nIn addition, the EDM will plan and lead the estimating department functions, including administering operating budgets, staffing, work assignments, salary and performance reviews, etc.\nThe EDM will develop and implement all department procedures in accordance to company policy and review all final estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.\nDuties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:\nManage a team of Estimators; assigning responsibilities and providing oversight, guidance, mentorship and coaching while generating continuous improvement amongst the team\nOversee and/or prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for projects based on contract documents, quotations, drawings and specifications \nOversee price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders as required\nAssess risk on estimates and their order of magnitude to consistently formulate tender costs\nOverall functionality of the department to ensure efficiency and effectiveness\nDevelop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc. \nDevelop and manage data/metrics to improve and support a successful estimating process\nMaintain and grow relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors\nActively participates in industry, client and community relations to enhance company image\nCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS\nLeadership skills including superior communication (both written and oral)\nAble to adapt and respond to change\nAnalytically skilled and results oriented\nSuperior Planning and Organization Skills\nStrong attention to detail with ability to see overarching themes\nContinuous Learning\nCustomer Focus\nHolds Self and Others Accountable\nProblem Solving and Innovation \nMaximizes Business Performance and Team Effectiveness\nLeadership, Teamwork and Collaboration\nValues and Respects Others\nEDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS\nDegree in either construction or business management or engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil), or; diploma in trade engineering technology, or; combined equivalent in-trade experience and office experience\nPMP designation, Gold Seal Certification, Construction safety certifications and/or MBA would be considered an asset.\nExperience managing teams\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nStrong leadership and team management abilities\nProblem-solving and decision-making skills\nWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum of 5-10 years’ experience in estimating\nSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS\nIn-depth knowledge of estimating platforms such as Accubid, Autobid, bid2win or Excel\nConstruction scheduling, planning, and execution\nUnderstanding of construction documents \nBusiness operations processes\nOrganization and time management\nPlease be advised that a Criminal Background Check and Professional Reference Check will be required as part of our employment screening and selection process.
