Their primary focus is to lead the bid team in development of proposals for engineering, procurement and multi-trade construction projects within the Power Generation Sector, including mechanical, electrical, structural and civil scopes. This role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with tender specifications, and driving the end-to-end bid process to secure successful project outcomes.\nJOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead the planning, development and submission of project bids in response to client RFPs.\nDevelop and execute a project strategy that meets the project’s required performance, schedule, and profitability targets.\nPrepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.\nAdvise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations.\nLead site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings with the Director of Proposals & Commercial Management, Project Manager, and Purchasing as required.\nLiaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.\nAssist in scope development and subcontractor evaluations.\nIdentify labour, equipment, material, time requirements, and technical specifications.\nAssist with the development of WBS and schedules.\nConduct quantity take-off estimates based on engineering drawings and specifications to compute labour and material costs to support budget development and change management.\nDocuments all information relating to the estimate, archives and organizes such information to turnover to the project team upon successful award.\nTravel to various sites or clients to undertake the above.\nCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS\nCommunicates Effectively\nCustomer Focus\nHolds Self and Others Accountable\nProblem Solving and Innovation\nTeamwork and Collaboration\nValues and Respects Others\nEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS\nBachelor's degree in Engineering (or related discipline) or College Technical Diploma or related experience.\nRelevant designation preferred.\nWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\n3+ years of estimating experience for related construction/power generation projects.\nExperience on projects with high-risk complexity.\nProven experience with industry standards and cost estimating software.\nSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS\nStrong communication, organization, analytical and relevant technical skills.\nAvailable to travel.\nComputer literacy: MS word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, and JD Edwards.\nWORK PERKS & BENEFITS\nCompany paid health and dental benefits\nOpportunity to participate in community and wellness initiatives\nTeam building events\nAccess to a dynamic Employee & Family Assistance Program\nOpportunity for ongoing professional development\nRewards and recognition\nScholarship Program for employee dependents\nCOMPENSATION\nThe expected salary range for this role is between $90,000/annually and $120,000/annually. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education, experience and overall competencies. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
