This program is designed to provide unemployed and underemployed individuals with the in-demand skills and industry-recognized certifications needed to obtain livable wages. The instructor will deliver a hands-on curriculum focused on real-world applications of GIS to prepare participants to pass the Esri GIS Fundamentals Foundation Certification exam.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nThe duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements and duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this class.\nProvide instruction that includes lecture and/or laboratory classes, including technical training on ArcGIS, the industry-standard software developed by Esri.\n\nSupport the development and implementation of curriculum and syllabus that prepares students to pass the Esri GIS Fundamentals Foundation Certification exam.\n\nInform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance, and participation requirements in a course syllabus.\n\nEffectively teach and communicate with students of diverse backgrounds, including low-income and underrepresented communities.\n\nAdvise students on academic and career matters, and support their overall success in the program.\n\nMaintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and student records, and submit them according to published guidelines.\n\nPrepare and grade class assignments and evaluations according to course syllabus.\n\nMaintain currency in the field by providing hands-on training with real-world applications of GIS.\n\nDevelop, maintain, and review course-specific and program-level student learning outcomes.\n\nRequirements\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nA Master's degree in geography; OR\n\nA Bachelor's degree in geography; AND A Master's degree in geology, history, meteorology, or oceanography; OR\n\n7+ Years of professional experience using ArcGIS\n\nThe Equivalent; AND\n\nDemonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff \n\nACADEMIC EQUIVALENCY\nApplicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications to teach in a desired discipline but feel that they possess the equivalent of qualifications may attach an Application for Equivalence. Applicants who claim equivalent qualifications shall provide conclusive evidence that they possess qualifications that are at least equivalent to those required by the minimum qualifications.
