doing:\nHelp drive the long-term architectural strategy for Blackbaud’s Financial products, balancing scalability, performance, security, and regulatory requirements.\n\nDesign and evolve foundational components and services that support accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial workflows.\n\nProvide technical leadership across teams, guiding design decisions and promoting consistent, high-quality engineering practices.\n\nPartner with Product Management to translate complex financial requirements into robust, maintainable technical solutions.\n\nLead modernization efforts, including legacy system refactoring, cloud-native architecture adoption, and technical debt reduction.\n\nAI-assisted engineering leadership:\nChampion the responsible and effective use of AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, similar tools) across day-to-day development\n\nEstablish expectations for using AI in code reviews, including:\n\nIdentifying defects, edge cases, and performance issues\n\nImproving readability, consistency, and adherence to architectural standards\n\nAssisting with risk identification in financial and compliance-sensitive code paths\n\nPromote the use of AI to accelerate and strengthen testing, including:\n\nGenerating and refining unit, integration, and regression tests\n\nIdentifying gaps in test coverage, especially in legacy or high-risk areas\n\nSupporting test modernization as systems are refactored or decomposed\n\nLeverage AI tools during legacy modernization efforts to:\n\nAnalyze and understand complex or poorly documented legacy code\n\nAssist with refactoring, decomposition, and translation to modern patterns\n\nReduce risk while improving speed and confidence in large-scale changes\n\nGuide teams on safe, compliant, and maintainable use of AI tools within enterprise, security, and regulatory constraints\n\nEstablish and uphold engineering standards for reliability, observability, testing, and operational excellence\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Security, Compliance, Support) to ensure solutions meet business and regulatory needs\n\nMentor Principal and Senior Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement\n\nStay current on trends in financial systems, SaaS architecture, and developer productivity tooling, and apply them pragmatically within Blackbaud.\n\nWhatwe’llwant you to have:\n10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership roles on complex, enterprise-scale systems\n\nDeep experience designing and delivering financial, accounting, or other highly regulated domain software\n\nProven ability to lead architectural discussions and influence technical direction across multiple teams.\n\nStrong expertise in .NET Core, C#, and modern backend architecture patterns.\n\nExperience with relational and NoSQL data stores (e.g., SQL Server, Cosmos DB) and RESTful API design.\n\nProficiency with modern web technologies, including Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.\n\nAble to work flexible hours as required by business priorities.\n\nAbility to deliver
